Super Vet Noel Fitzpatrick 'overwhelmed with fear' as dog in critical condition

Super Vet Noel Fitzpatrick has revealed his dog Keira is in ‘critical condition’ after she was hit by a van.

The vet and TV star revealed the heartbreaking news to fans on Twitter, sharing a sweet photo of the pup.

‘3 weeks ago my little girl, Keira, was hit by a van,’ Noel, 52, wrote. ‘She has been in a critical state and the fear of losing her has been overwhelming.

‘Her outlook remains unknown. We hope & keep the faith that she will be OK. I’ll bring an update when the time is right. Thank you for caring x’.

Fans are devastated for the star, with one writing: ‘I feel your pain. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.’

‘Omg!! Poor Keira.I’m so sorry Noel,’ another added, while one more said: ‘So sorry to hear this but she is in the best hands and the best care in the UK. If not the world!!’

Noel is known for performing some veterinary miracles on his show, with Dec Donnelly thanking the star earlier this year for saving his pup Rocky.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here presenter took to Instagram to thank the vet, who had got his dachshund back to health.

He wrote: ‘Another thank you to this guy @profnoelfitzpatrick and his amazing staff for looking after Rocky and getting him back on his feet after a run-in with a grumpy fox in our garden last Sunday. Cheeky bugger!

‘The care and attention from the guys at @fitzpatrick_referrals is so reassuring and comforting. Thanks again everyone. D x’.

Elsewhere, Monty Don thanked Noel for saving his dog Nigel after a slipped disc left him close to death.

Monty wrote in his book, Nigel: My Family And Other Dogs by Monty Don: ‘After a CAT scan, Noel was immediately able to diagnose what had happened. When Nigel had leapt in the air, the acceleration had been so powerful, and he’d twisted with such suppleness, that one of the discs in his back had exploded, partially severing his spinal cord.

‘Noel wouldn’t operate but kept him in the correct position, coupled with hydrotherapy several times a day in the pool.

‘Five days later, we went back and Nigel walked out to the car, tail up, wanting to leap into the back. It seemed miraculous: despite a tremor in his afflicted leg, he was soon running freely again.’
