Superman: Legacy hopeful breaks silence on Lois Lane casting
Henry Cavill still has his superman outfit in his closet
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 director James Gunn is hard at work in bringing the next Superman film to life.
The American Hollywood boss recently took over the role of Creative Head at DC Studios, and his first port of call was writing the script to the company’s next major blockbuster – Superman: Legacy.
The picture is going to be a new origin story for the Man of Steel, and will reinvent the DC Universe from the ground up – but this also means Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will no longer play Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively.
Therefore, casting has to be done. And while it is reportedly happening behind closed doors, Gunn recently told his Twitter fans: “I would never comment on who is or isn’t AUDITIONING for a role. That’s the actor’s business only & isn’t something I’d make public unless they did it first after the fact.”
With that said, one of the major Hollywood hopefuls in the running to become Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan, has now broken her silence about the casting rumours.
Brosnahan is best known for playing Midge Maisel in Amazon’s Prime Video show The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.
She has also joined forces with Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch in the 2020 thriller The Courier.
Appearing on The View earlier this week, Brosnahan was asked directly about the casting rumours. She first replied: “Take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt, is my first piece of advice.”
Brosnahan then explained: “Look, it would be extraordinary; I grew up watching Lois Lane, this incredibly talented journalist, [who is] far from a damsel in distress.”

Brosnahan concluded by confirming: “I would jump at the chance if it arose,” but would not address rumours that she is already auditioning for the role.
Last week, a report was released by Deadline stating that Brosnahan was in the running for Lois Lane, alongside a few other major names.
The publication said she was going up against the likes of Phoebe Dynevor and Samara Weaving for the iconic DC Comics role.
If the 32-year-old embodied the character, she would be replacing Amy Adams, who played Lois Lane in three movies (Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, Justice League).
Meanwhile, Jacob Elordi and Nicholas Hoult are just two of the major names reportedly auditioning to play the new-and-improved Clark Kent / Superman.
Superman: Legacy is due to hit cinemas on July 11, 2025.
