The Walking Dead season 10: Lydia to play huge part in Alpha’s death?
A particular character’s absence in the trailers for the exciting tenth anniversary season of the AMC zombie epic has set fans’ alarm bells ringing. One fan thinks they could have some answers for how The Walking Dead will continue the second half of season ten.
Fans last left the post-apocalyptic series with Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) and his gang of survivors trapped after an unforeseen ambush from Alpha (Samantha Morton) and her squad of brutal Whisperers.
Alpha has been vying for the possession of her teenage daughter Lydia (Cassady McClincy).
Devoted fans to the series will know that Alpha’s fate has already been sealed in the original series of graphic novels.
However, the series frequently takes liberties when adapting the comic books, leaving fans unable to predict some of the dramatic turns the AMC drama takes.

One fan has presented a spoilerific theory regarding the fate of Alpha in the source material.
Redditor TWDFanComic proposed: “I think that Negan will still ultimately follow his comic arc and kill Alpha, but my small prediction is that Lydia witnesses this, because poor Lydia simply can’t catch a break.”
In Robert Kirkman’s original comic books, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) confronts Alpha after realising that she has become too animalistic even for the Whisperers.
Negan rejects an offer to join the Whisperers, and decapitates Alpha in a brutal sequence.
One fan responded to the theory in agreement and added: “Like this prediction. Would be a good story opportunity for Lydia. Liking her character so far, she seems a lot more important than her comic version.”
This prediction would set Lydia up as an unpredictable presence for future seasons.
Lydia could hold a grudge against Negan, despite understanding that it’s better for the group that Alpha is killed.
The original poster continued: “In 10A she gets along well with Negan because they are both the outcasts. I think Lydia knows deep down her mom needs to die, but regardless it’s obviously going to be a hard pill to swallow once Alpha is actually dead.”

As Lydia has become a more prevalent character in the television season, the writers could choose to have Lydia being more involved in Alpha’s death.
Lydia is currently just a young teen, but in the original comic books she remains a strong present throughout the entire series.
The death of Alpha could set up some major tension throughout upcoming seasons as TWD is due to begin the comics’ Commonwealth arc.
However, this speculation flies in the face of a previous theory that followed the release of an evocative promotional image of an enraged Alpha.

Due to the character’s expression, fans believed that the upcoming second half of the season could feature Alpha tragically killing her own daughter, or at least witnessing her death.
Although, this would constitute one of the biggest departures from Kirkman’s original comic series.
Whatever happens in the lead up to the team’s arrival in Commonwealth, fans are preparing themselves for a feast of action and bloodshed to come in the ongoing season.
The Walking Dead season 10 returns to AMC on Sunday, February 23 and FOX UK on Monday, February 24.
