The Walking Dead spoiler: Alpha horrifies fans by decapitating a Whisperer as gory punishment in show’s ‘scariest scenes yet’

THE Walking Dead fans were left horrified last when terrifying leader Alpha decapitated one of her own group to teach the others a lesson.

After challenging the insidious commander of Whisperers over her ability to keep them all safe, she reacted in the only way she knew how – with death.

Alpha decapitates one of her own followers as a warning to the othersSeason nine of the long-running show has gone off with a bang by introducing fearsome group, the Whisperers.Headed by Alpha, played by British actress Samantha Morton, the band of survivors dress in the skin of Walkers to allow them to move freely through the reanimated corpses.

After rescuing her daughter from Darryl, Michonne and the others at Alexandria, two of Alpha’s followers were left unimpressed that she had broken her own rules to get her.

Their doubt was strengthened when Henry, a Hilltop survivor who had followed Lydia in a naive attempt to bring her back to safety, was caught and not immediately killed on the spot.

The nameless followers raised the issue, telling Alpha: “We don’t go back for the lost, never have.”

Challenging the role of leader, Alpha then revealed she’d known this attempt at anarchy had been coming as she’d seen the man and women conspiring.

Circling the female follower, Alpha takes a sharp wire and places it around her neck and cuts off her head.

Taking the severed head, Alpha gives it to her male partner before wiping a tear from his face.

“Crying is weak,” she whispers before stabbing him in the stomach.

Later, Samantha Morton’s character removes her corpse mask and reveals to Beta that the confrontation between her and the dead followers felt different this time and she fears she’s losing control over the group.

Her right-hand man tries to reassure her but the psychopathic leader then shares a shocking story.

Recalling an incident when Lydia was young, Alpha says that she once found her choking with plastic over her face.

“I just stood there watching her skin turn blue,” she says.

After tearing the bag off her face, the mum revealed she’d hit her so hard that her little girl would know never to do it again.

Beta tells Alpha that they have to test Lydia’s loyalty by making her kill Henry.

As Lydia’s mum stands over her, pushing for her to kill Henry they’re interrupted by a herd of Walkers.

Darryl and Connie, who have been following Henry, walk through in disguise and grab the two to take them back to Alexandria.

Titled Guardians, the chapter was applauded by fans who called it one of the “best” episodes and called for imprisoned former-dictator Negan to be let loose on Alpha.
Referring to Negan’s barbed-wire covered bat, one wrote: “I think Lucille needs to meet each of Alpha's orifices.”
