The highly anticipated finale of the latest season of The Walking Dead, A Certain Doom, was set to broadcast earlier this year following the previous 15 episodes.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus outbreak occurred in the middle of post-production for the season’s final episode so fans have been waiting some weeks to see how the battle between Hilltop and the Whisperers will conclude.
Additionally, production on season six of the current spin-off Fear the Walking Dead has been put on hold.
On top of the mainline series and TWD’s first spin-off, AMC also confirmed the world of Robert Kirkman’s original comic book run will further expand with another spin-off, The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

The limited series is confirmed to run for two ten-episode seasons before concluding, and will follow a group of teenagers in the zombie apocalypse established in the original show.
AMC announced the spin-off in 2018 and filming began in July 2019 with a pilot directed by Kong: Skull Island’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Originally set to be released on April 12th 2019, production of the series has been pushed back due to coronavirus restrictions.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC COO Ed Carroll confirmed the spin-off series is instead eying a release in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Mr Carroll confirmed: “We moved The Walking Dead: World Beyond … back into [the] fourth quarter, so we are finishing post[-production] on that.”
Although filming for both World Beyond and TWD’s season 10 finale had finished, there is still extensive editing and special effects work needed to fully complete each series.
AMC’s COO continued: “That will be set to go. We have a new show, which is quite a bit anticipated called Soulmates, that will be airing in the second half of the year.”
Upcoming romantic anthology series Soulmates is not related to TWD, though it is still one to watch as Black Mirror writer Will Bridges teams with Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Sarah Snook (Succession) and more.

Meanwhile, COO Ed Carroll also confirmed Fear the Walking Dead is also hoped to return before the end of 2020.
He added: “We anticipate having some episodes of Fear [the Walking Dead] season six in the second half of the year as well.”
Hopefully the upcoming slate of TWD spin-offs will be enough TWD content to satiate fans who will likely miss out on season 11 of the mainline series for the time being.
Though the zombie wasteland saga is usually expected to premiere in Autumn, AMC higher ups have suggested production won’t be able to restart in time for a 2020 release.

AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan said: “We have had to postpone production and post-production work on a number of shows, resulting in some scheduling shifts between now and the end of the year, which we are also managing through.”
Regarding season 10’s finale, The Walking Dead’s current showrunner Angela Kang confirmed: “By the time the world is safe for people to start venturing out, probably all of the effects will be done, and then it’s just a handful of processes and it can be turned around very, very quickly.”
The coronavirus pandemic continues to cause major issues for the entertainment industry, though TWD fans still have plenty of new content to look forward to in the latter half of 2020.
