Tipping Point fans flabbergasted as contestant says Picasso was ‘British’
Tipping Point was back on our screens on Wednesday as ITV aired the latest episode of the popular game show.
Host Ben Shephard welcomed four contestants to the television studio as they battled it out to win the highly sought after cash prizes.
Allan, Lynn, Les and Grace all answered a series of questions to win turns on an arcade-style machine.
Dropping tokens down a choice of four chutes, they each hoped to knock piles of the counters off a moving shelve – the more they collected, the greater the prize fund.
Stay at home mum Grace made it through to the penultimate round of the game show with Allan after beating off tough competition from Lynn and Les.
Things took a turn for the worst for the contestant as she pondered if Spanish painter Pablo Picasso was from Britain during an awkward moment.
Viewers at home were in disbelief as Grace debated where the artist was born in the UK or not.
One fan penned: "Graces thinks Picasso might be British. Can someone help Grace out of the studio please."
A second posted: "Picasso is definitely not British Grace."
While another said: "Oh no Grace. Not a good day for you."
A fourth joked: "That famous British sculptor Picasso."
It got even worse for Grace as she stumbled on a question about English novelist and poet Charlotte Brontë.
The player admitted that she'd "never heard" of the famous writer, leaving fans at home scratching their heads once again.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Never heard Charlotte Brontë?"
A second posted: "Grace hasn't heard of Charlotte Brontë."
While a third posted: "How have you not heard of Charlotte Brontë?"
"Never heard of Charlotte Brontë? which school did she go to?," a fourth confused viewer.
Another added: "Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Even the Ape creatures of the Indus would have got that."
Allan managed to make it to the final round with a chance to win the £10,000 jackpot.
Things didn't go plan for Allan during the nail-biting final and he ended up walking away with just over £2,000.
Discussing how he is going o spend his prize money, Allan said: "It needs to be a holiday or two."
Host Ben, 45, probed: "Where would you like to go?"
"I've not been back to Vegas for a while. I've got a friend who lives in Dubai i'd like to visit,: Allan replied.
