Tipping Point player red-faced as embarrassing geography gaffe riles up viewers
Tipping Point fans were left cringing after a contestant suffered an embarrassing geography blunder during Thursday's episode.
Adam was doing incredibly well on the show, and he managed to secure a place in the final round of the competition.
Despite his impressive streak of correct answers, viewers were distracted by a remark he made while answering a question.
While answering a geography themed question about islands situated in Asia, Adam said he was ruling out the multiple choice answer Japan, as he believed it was inland.
Japan is in fact an island country, and viewers went into meltdown on Twitter after the contestant's epic fail.
One said: "Did… did he just say that Japan isn't an island?"
While another wrote: "Ben's face when he said Japan was 'inland' says it all…"
"'Japan isn't an island I think it's inland'… give me strength," penned a third viewer.
Despite Adam's mistake, he still answered the question correctly as the answer Ben was looking for was the Philippines.
Aside from several question mishaps throughout the show, Adam continued to answer plenty correctly and knocked plenty of counters over the side of the Tipping Point.
After winning a staggering £2750, he decided to take the money and not gamble it for the £10k jackpot.
Tipping Point has seen an array of embarrassing wrong answers over the years, and earlier this week Ben was left in hysterics over one.
Ben had began asking a question as he said: "Famous for carrying a weaponised umbrella and wearing a tuxedo…"
A player named Annelies quickly answered: "Mary Poppins?"
Ben loudly laughed as the player's fellow contestants began to chuckle too.
Annelies realised her error as she laughed: "Sorry, I didn't hear what you said!"
After revealing the answer he was looking for was the Batman villain "Penguin", Ben teased: "Mary Poppins never carried a weaponised umbrella…"
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
