What happened on Love Island tonight? Recap of episode 38 with all the gossip and highlights
AFTER making it clear to Amber that there was no chance of a reconciliation between the two, Michael found it in himself to make amends with the beauty therapist in tonight’s episode of Love Island.
Meanwhile, three new Islanders entered the villa and were quick to choose who they wanted to take on their first date. But what else occurred?
What happened in tonight’s episode?
Following Joanna’s elimination, many were quick to assume that Michael would attempt to rekindle his romance with Amber, but that clearly didn’t happen.
In the previous episode, the firefighter had confronted his former Island partner, stressing that even though Joanna was no longer in the villa, he has no interest in coupling up with anybody else.
Of course, this broke Amber’s heart, subsequently leading Michael to have a word with her in tonight’s episode regarding their situation.
“I don’t actually want to hurt you and I never have. Right now, it seems that I take all of my frustration out on you,” Michael explained after apologising for his behaviour the night prior.
Amber explained that she didn’t like the way the hunk from Liverpool spoke to her by telling her to sit down in a forceful tone, mentioning how “I knew you before and you never spoke to me in a way that made me feel upset.”
“I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly.”
Several couples have enjoyed the experience of spending the night in the Hideaway, but this time around, it was Anna and Jordan who were giving the privilege to get a quiet night alone.
In a private conversation, Michael told Jordan to treat his girl with a sensual dance that’s going to set the mood for the rest of the night, and that’s exactly what he did upon entering the Hideaway.
Anna was blindfolded before being tickled by her Island beau with a feather duster, which eventually led to Jordan performing a raunchy striptease.
Elsewhere, Doggy Style was the name of the latest Love Island challenge, with each girl guiding their boy – who is blindfolded and dressed as a dog – around an agility course. The boy who collected the most treats would be declared the winner.
Molly-Mae clearly wasn’t impressed with Tommy’s technique in the challenge, saying in the Beach Hut: “He is lightning fast in the ring. But he is slow on the floor! We never succeed at challenges, ever!”
Following the end of the task, the Islanders headed back to the villa before Ovie received a text, which read: “Ovie and Chris. Two new girls are waiting to take you on dates tonight, please get ready. #backinthegame #slamdunk”
Chris seemed ecstatic that new contestants were joining the villa, especially since the property manager hasn’t had much luck with the ladies so far.
In the Beach Hut, he gushed: “I’m proper buzzing. I’ve been on my own so far and no-one has fancied me. So, I’m vibrating around the place with excitement.”
Shortly after their text, the boys got ready and headed out to meet India and Harley respectively.
Ovie was quick to question Harley why she had chosen him for a date, to which she responded saying that the basketball hunk had a personality like no other, and “if you’re not funny, I don’t want to know you.”
Clearly, Ovie had ticked all of Harley’s boxes.
Meanwhile, Chris was curious to know what India’s profession was while on his date, and though she initially joked about being a puppeteer, she later confessed to actually working as a professional model, leading the pair to laugh.
And while Ovie and Chris appeared to be having a great time on their date, Amber was the next to receive a text while lounging in the villa.
The text read: “Don’t worry Amber. The boys aren’t having all the fun. Greg is waiting for you on the Hideaway terrace. #guarddown #openminded”
We'll have to wait until episode 39 to see how Amber's date with Greg went, but how do you think it'll go?
What days in the week is Love Island on ITV2?
You can get your fix of the show every night on ITV2 at 9pm where the main programme, hilariously narrated by Iain Stirling, gives you the lowdown on all the goings-on in the villa – from couples cracking on to singletons getting mugged off.
Saturday night's show differs from the rest of the week, as it is a round-up of all the best bits from the villa that week – and maybe some unseen footage.
If that’s not enough, you can also watch Caroline Flack's spin off show Aftersun on Sunday nights at 10pm after the main show has aired, where she discusses the latest action with celebrity guests, as well as those eliminated from the villa.
