Who is Sean Tully's son Dylan Wilson in Coronation Street?
Sean Tully’s (Anthony Cotton) son Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) will be making a dramatic return to Coronation Street in tonight’s double bill (October 23).
Dylan is the son of Sean and Violet Wilson (Jenny Platt), who are old friends.
In 2007, Sean agreed to impregnate Violet to satisfy her desire to have a child. However, things got complicated when Sean bonded with Dylan – and Violet didn’t want him involved in raising her child.
But who is Dylan Wilson, and who was his mother Violet?
Who is Dylan Wilson?
Dylan Wilson is the son of Sean and Violet.
He was born on February 22, 2008 – making him 12 years old.
Dylan’s mum and her boyfriend Jamie Baldwin (Rupert Hill) had intended to escape Weatherfield and have Dylan be born in London – unfortunately, he was four weeks premature.
Sean immediately bonded with his son and suggested changing his last name to ‘Wilson-Tully’. He also asked if they would name him as Dylan’s father on his birth certificate.
Violet and Jamie decided to put Jamie on the birth certificate, rather than Sean, so Jamie could be his legal father, and so their start in London would be easier for all of them.
Violet and Jamie eventually broke up, and she got injured in a car accident in 2011 – so Dylan went to stay with Sean.
In September that year, Dylan returned to Violet after she recovered, although Sean still has contact with him, and went to visit him over Christmas.
Flashforward to 2020, Dylan is initially heading back to the cobbles to spend half-term with his dad. However, show bosses have decided to make Dylan a permanent character beyond this.
Who was Violet Wilson?
Violet arrived in the Street on October 8, 2004, as a barmaid in the Rovers Return Inn.
Violet got into a passionate relationship with Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas), however the two broke up when she discovered that he was having an affair with neighbour Sarah Platt (Leah King).
After her break up with Jason, Violet got into a relationship with Jamie.
In 2006, Jamie grew distant from her, and very close to Sean, and she wondered whether he may be gay.
But, it turned out he was in love with his step-mother Frankie Baldwin (Debra Stephenson).
The relationship finished sometime later, with Violet still not knowing about Jamie’s affair with Frankie.
Violet suffered an ectopic pregnancy on New Years Day 2007, and had to have emergency surgery to remove the baby. She was told that she had a reduced chance of conceiving.
While drunk, Violet and Sean agreed to try for a baby together.
After the mess with baby Dylan and Sean, Violet moved permanently to London with her son.
It is unknown whether Violet Wilson will be making a return to the cobbles.
Coronation Street continues with a double bill tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
