Will 'Sister Wives' Return For a New Season on TLC?

Fans of the TLC show Sister Wives, which covers the polygamist Brown family — including patriarch Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, as well as their many children — have wondered for months whether the show will get another season.

TLC producers are notorious for last-minute announcements of new Sister Wives seasons. Luckily, a loose-lipped cast member or two and some recent fan sightings of the fundamentalist Mormon family have given curious viewers a few hints about a possible next season.

TLC has been slow to announce a new ‘Sister Wives’ season in the past

The last season of Sister Wives wrapped in April 2019. Surprisingly, TLC didn’t announce the then-upcoming 13th season, which began in January, until late December of 2018.

Since the April Sister Wives Tell-All special, fans have wondered if the Browns would return for a 14th season. TLC hasn’t yet made any official announcements about a premiere. And because past new Sister Wives seasons have premiered in just about every month of the year, it’s been tough to pin down a potential date.

What’s more, some family members, like Kody, Robyn, Janelle, 25-year-old son Logan, and several of the other adult kids, have also remained more quiet than usual on social media. The crickets on Twitter and Instagram from many cast members sparked rumors that the show might be cancelled.

Cast members offered hints that the show would have a new season

Luckily, Sister Wives daughter Gwendlyn Brown, now 18, offered a juicy tidbit for fans in July. In an Instagram Q&A session, Soap Dirt reported that Gwendlyn responded to the question “Will there be a next season?” with: “I really don’t know what I’m allowed to say, but here’s a hint: yes.”

Earlier this year, in May, 24-year-old Brown daughter Mariah also hinted at a Sister Wives renewal. She posted on Instagram that she and her fiancée, Audrey Kriss, loved hanging with the camera crew.

The Browns were seen filming in Chicago after the end of last season

At the end of Sister Wives‘ last season, viewers saw the Brown parents move to Flagstaff, Arizona, and wrestle with the question of where they would live. Meanwhile, several of the children, including daughters Mykelti, Aspyn, and Maddie, as well as eldest son Logan, are married or engaged and living on their own with their significant others.

Mariah Brown, Meri and Kody Brown’s only daughter, also recently popped the question to her longtime girlfriend, Audrey Kriss. The newly engaged couple packed up and moved to Chicago, Illinois, shortly thereafter, where Mariah is attending graduate school at Loyola University’s School of Social Work.

Mariah’s mom has visited Chicago several times since her daughter’s big move. It looks like the whole family recently dropped in on Mariah as well. In June, several onlookers spotted TLC camera crews following various members of the Brown family around the Windy City.

This turn of events relieved many Sister Wives fans, who had been concerned after reports that both Meri and Janelle lived in “no-film” zones in Flagstaff.

The newest hints at a 14th ‘Sister Wives’ season come from third wife Christine

Just three weeks ago, Kody’s third wife Christine Brown posted what many fans believed to be a telltale sign that Sister Wives would be returning.

Christine captioned a smiling photo of herself with the Sister Wives Director of Photography Doug Monroe, “Happy Birthday @dougmon !! I’ll always remember you filming us coming home with @truelygracebrown right after she was born. Thanks for your friendship and how you care for our family! #friendsforyears #cameraguy.”

The heartfelt caption sparked hundreds of hopeful comments about the show’s renewal.

In September, a collection of U-Haul trucks was also spotted near the Browns’ land in Flagstaff. Although the rumors might be unfounded, some fans speculate that the trucks held the Sister Wives crew’s film equipment.

While TLC hasn’t officially confirmed a 2020 season, hints from cast members and the family’s recent filming appear to suggest that the Sister Wives polygamists will return to our screens next year.
