TRAGIC Brit Amelia Bambridge’s family have vowed to bring her body home to “lay her beautiful soul to rest” after her death in Cambodia.

The backpacker, 21, from Worthing, West Sussex, vanished after a beach party on the tourist island of Koh Rong on October 23.

Her disappearance sparked a massive search and rescue operation, but her body was tragically found in the sea 60 miles away yesterday.

And her devastated family have now vowed to bring her home to lay her to rest.

Grieving mum Linda Schultes today arrived at the Sihanoukville Referral Hospital – where Amelia’s body is believed to be – along with other members of her family.

One of her sisters, Sharon Schultes, wrote an emotional tribute to her on the family's fundraising page, which has raised nearly £17,000 to date.

Now we have to get our Amelia back home to England so we can lay her beautiful soul to rest."

She said: "I have had the most horrific confirmation that my sister Amelia Bambridge was found and she is no longer with us.

"It breaks my heart to let all my close family and friends know the horrendous outcome that we didn't want.

"Now we have to get our Amelia back home to England so we can lay her beautiful soul to rest and to remember the wonderful life she lived.

"Thank you for all the support we've had, please continue to do all you can so we can get all our family home with Amelia safely."

Amelia’s brother –who had flown out to Cambodia to help with the search – wrote a heartbreaking message to his tragic sister on Instagram, apologising for not bringing her home alive.

Harry Bambridge said: "I've just seen her and I can confirm it's my little sister Amelia.

"I'm so sorry to all her friends and family, there's nothing more I wanted then (sic) to bring her back alive and I really f***ing tried.

"And I'm sorry to you, Amelia Bambridge, he round is on me when we meet again in heaven."

TRAGIC DISCOVERY

Amelia was last seen at 3am and was due to check out of her hostel at noon on October 25, but did not return to pick up her passport.

Her body was found floating amid rocks off Koh Chhlam, an island in the neighbouring Koh Kong province.

Cambodia's police chief said drowning was the likely cause of death.

Amelia’s body has now been taken to the Cambodian mainland for an autopsy.

Officials had openly leaned toward the theory that she had drowned, after her bag containing money and a mobile phone was found on a rock in the sea near the privately-owned Police Beach.

Chuon Narin, police chief of the Preah Sihanouk province, said a tattoo and the clothes she was wearing – the last she'd been seen in – had helped identify her.

Officials were also checking with local fisherman to see if there were any reports of other missing women who might have been lost at sea.
