Americans hilariously baffled by poll of great British foods including the humble bacon sarnie

AMERICANS are hilariously baffled by the best of British foods, including our bacon sarnies.

A YouGov poll showing how Brits rate their food from "God Tier to "C**p tier" went viral on Twitter, and many were left scratching their heads at how some of the classic dishes fared.

The "God Tier" foods were the Yorkshire pudding, a Sunday roast, fish and chips, crumpets, a Full English breakfast and a bacon sandwich.

One person said British food looks "depressing" as other dishes that made the it into the "Top Tier" included bangers and mash, Cottage pie and Shepherd's pie.

Many couldn't understand how the bacon sandwich had made it into the "God Tier".

'IT'S THE BEST'

One said: "When some of the best they got is literally only bacon and 2 slices of bread."

Another person said: "Y'alls best food is a bacon sandwich…"

One added: "They call a bacon sandwich a god tier…I wonder if the ever heard of a BLT."

Brits also furiously defended the bacon sarnie.

One said: "For all of you here, Bacon sandwich is the best creation ever."

Another person added: "These Americans don't understand how good an actual British bacon sandwich is."

The poll was originally published in April and was re-shared on Saturday and has amassed more than 75,000 likes and 15,000 retweets.

Some other people on Twitter asked how chicken tikka masala was considered British.

One said: "no one's gonna say how they put chicken tikka masala there and called it British uhhh?"

Chicken tikka masala is a dish that was believed to have been created in Britain in the 1960s.

British-Indian restaurants were gaining popularity and chicken tikka masala was invented as chefs combined yogurt, cream and spices with chunks of boneless chicken.

It is furiously debated where in Britain the dish was created, but one popular theory is that it was developed in Glasgow.
