At least 11 Secret Service agents have tested positive for coronavirus: report
COVID-19 is swirling ever closer to President Trump: At least 11 Secret Service agents have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus.
The agency is responsible for protecting Trump, the first family and other world leaders.
Besides the active cases, at least 23 other agents have tested positive and recovered from the infection and another 60 remain in quarantine, Yahoo reported, citing to a Department of Homeland Security document that the news outlet had obtained.
“To protect the privacy of our employee’s health information and for operational security, the Secret Service is not releasing how many of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19, nor how many of its employees were, or currently are, quarantined,” the Secret Service told Yahoo in a statement.
The virus, which has now killed more than 78,000 Americans, has whipped around the White House.
Earlier this week, one of the president’s valets tested positive, as well as Katie Miller, a press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence and wife of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller. Ivanka Trump’s personal assistant also has tested positive.
