Relatives have now stepped up to care for the youngster as his dad Chris, 43, remains on a ventilator as he fights the deadly virus.
And hundreds of well-wishers have donated to support little Evan after the coronavirus tragedy.
One contributor urged Evan’s dad to keep fighting saying: “Come on Chris, this precious little lad needs you.”
Neighbours said Chris and Julianne, of Pentwyn, Cardiff, were "wonderful parents" who doted on Evan.
Fundraiser Natalie Lloyd-Hughes said on a JustGiving page: "We heard the absolutely awful news that Julianne had passed away from Covid-19.
"Just four days previously Julianne had tragically lost her own mother, Joan, to the virus.
“In addition to this, Julianne's husband Chris, Evan’s dad, is currently in hospital fighting the virus."
Evan is in year two at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School inn Cardiff.
One well-wisher added: "Absolutely devastated. Come on Chris you can do this. We are all praying for you and thinking of Evan. RIP lovely, kind, caring Julianne and RIP Joan."
Another wrote: "Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Chris – stay strong fight hard."

"Her dedication shone through, playing a central role in all that we do in the service and her focus was always on ensuring we are delivering the best service we can for children and young people.
"Her loss will be felt by all the many colleagues she has worked with over the years.
"She is survived by her husband Chris, their son Evan and her brother Ian. We will miss her greatly."

Join our George Cross campaign for NHS staff
SUN readers are today urged to sign a petition calling for our NHS staff to be awarded the George Cross.
Yesterday, we backed a proposal by Lord Ashcroft to honour our health heroes with the gallantry gong given for acts of bravery that did not take place in battle.
A No10 spokesman said: “The NHS is doing a fantastic job and the nation will want to find a way to say thank you when we have defeated this virus.”
SAS hero Andy McNab added: “The award of a George Cross would show an emotional appreciation.”
We are asking readers to sign the petition online at thesun.co.uk/georgecrossfornhs.
