Brave passers-by pull a man and woman from their car after it smashed through a roundabout barrier and landed on its side in an underpass

A man and a woman were pulled from a car by members of the public after it smashed through a roundabout barrier and landed sideways on an underpass in Salford.
Emergency services were called to the crash – which involved one car – on Broad Street, near Pendleton roundabout just outside Manchester, at around 12.40pm on Sunday.

They were then treated by North West Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene.
The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Witnesses reported a ‘large emergency response’ at the scene with firefighters, police and paramedics in attendance.
Pictures taken at the scene show firefighters surrounding the car.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘We were called at 12.40pm to Broad Street in Salford.
‘It was a road traffic collision involving one vehicle. There was a male and a female rescued from a car.
‘Two fire engines and one technical response unit attended at the scene. Both casualties are with the North West Ambulance Service.’
Broad Street currently remains closed eastbound due to the accident and transport bosses are urging drivers to take an alternative route.
Some Stagecoach buses – including the 34, 38 and 50 services – have diversions in place.
Services are currently not able to serve stops between Pendleton roundabout and McDonalds on Broad Street.
