Britain’s brainiest teen takes 28 A levels: Student, 16, with a higher IQ than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking reveals how unusual sleep routine is helping her break records

• The super genius also took 34 GCSEs last year, self-teaching 24 of them

A 16-year-old girl with an IQ higher than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking is looking to break a record by passing 28 A-Levels in a year. 

Mahnoor Cheema from Slough, who has an astonishing IQ of 161, has already taken four A-Levels since September in English language, marine science, environmental management, and thinking skills. 

It comes after she managed to score 33 nines and one eight in her GCSEs last year – when she self-taught herself an additional 24 GCSEs to ten she was doing at school. 

Mahnoor, who is a member of Mensa society whose members are all in the top two percent of global intelligence, created her own unique schedule to maximise studying time.

Stephen Hawking also had his IQ measured at 160, meaning it was lower than Mahnoor’s

‘After school, I sleep for three hours as I’m so tired, I wouldn’t be as productive. Then I wake up at 7pm and go to bed again at 2am. The last hour of my day is spent doing piano,’ she said in an interview with the Mirror.

‘I guess I do find school easier than most people, I just want to explore my full capability. Plus I am genuinely interested in all of my subjects. I’ve always loved to challenge myself.’

Her mother, Tayyaba, has credited her skills to ‘genetics, hard work, and consistency’.

Indeed her 14-year-old sister is a national maths champion who also has an IQ of 161 while her nine-year-old brother Jibran – already a grade four piano player. 

Her parents said that they knew Mahnoor was special after she finished the Harry Potter books by the age of six and by 11 had learned ‘by heart’ the Oxford English Dictionary.

The previous record was in 2008 by 18-year-old Ali Moeen Nawazish who managed 24 A-Levels in a single year

Mahnoor hopes to study medicine at Oxford once she has passed her final 24 A-Levels.

Back then Nawazish would regularly work ten hour days, but would only start revising for some exams three days in advance. 

Despite this he received 21 A grades, one B and one C.
