Call the fashion police! Officers confiscate dog wearing smart blue collared shirt from female owner who was too drunk to look after her pet

Passers-by gave a double take when they spotted a smartly-dressed dog sitting in a police van.
The pooch, who was wearing a buttoned-up blue denim shirt, had been confiscated by officers from its female owner who they said was too drunk to look after it.
A police picture of the dog in the vehicle has created a stir online, as social media wits claimed the animal’s choice of dress was a ‘crime against fashion’.
Others suggested the officers mahy even have dressed the dog up for the unlikely photo.

Police published the picture of the dapper dog in the stylish blue shirt on their Twitter.
The canine can be seen with a bemused demeanour whilst perched on the police van’s window, whilst his eyes laser directly down the camera lens.
British Transport Police in the Midlands explained on Twitter: ‘Yesterday our officers received a text report regarding a female who was intoxicated and not adequately caring for her dog.
‘Officers attended and ensured the welfare of the dog whilst further enquiries are ongoing to establish any offences.’
The incident comes shortly after Greater Manchester Police had to smash into a campervan to save a Labrador ‘locked inside’.
Users were tickled by the stylishly dressed dog, with one person querying the officers: ‘Did you dress the dog up just for the photo?’

Whilst some users called the canine’s fashion sense a ‘crime’ others called the image their ‘favourite police picture of all time.’ British Transport Police have confirmed the dog has been placed in alternative care
To which the police replied: ‘Can confirm the fashion crime was not our doing!’
Another jested: ‘How do I report a crime? That shirt is a fashion crime.’
One jibbed: ‘I do hope the police officer in the blue t-shirt is wearing a seatbelt LOL.’
Others complimented the pooch saying he was ‘Looking dapper in his lil’ outfit,’ whilst one person said it was said it was their ‘favourite police picture of all time.’
The dog is not currently being looked after by the owner and has been placed in alternative care according to British Transport Police.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: ‘Officers were called to Wolverhampton railway station following reports of an intoxicated woman and concerns for the welfare of her dog.
‘Officers attended and the dog has been temporarily placed in alternative care. Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.’
