City bus driver attacked by man waiting at Bronx stop

An MTA bus driver was attacked by a man waiting at a stop in the Bronx, police said.

The 42-year-old driver was heading south on the Edward L. Grant Highway in a Bx35 bus around 7:50 a.m. Friday when he stopped to pick up passengers on West 169th Street, cops said.

When he pulled over, a hooded man approached and sprayed an unknown liquid in the victim’s face before fleeing, police said.

Video released by police late Friday shows the suspect wearing a black sweatshirt and red sneakers, with his hood up, waiting at the stop.

As the bus pulls up, the man is seen crossing over to the driver’s side and pulling something from the inside of his sleeve before the video cuts out.

The victim told police his eyes then became blurry and began burning. He was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian hospital for treatment.

The suspect ran off west on West 168th Street and is still on the loose, cops said.

Police are investigating whether there was any prior encounter that prompted the attack.
