Coronavirus UK news LIVE: Epidemic is likely in Britain as two more test positive in Scotland – The Sun

BRITAIN'S Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty has said an epidemic is now likely in the UK.

He said coronavirus is likely spreading undetected already.

This comes as two more people tested positive for the deadly bug in the UK today.

  • DEATHS RISING

    Fifteen more people have died from coronavirus in Iran bringing the death toll to 92.

    The Islamic republic now has 2,922 confirmed cases.

    All of Iran’s provinces have been affected by the virus outbreak, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said today.

    He said: “This disease is a widespread disease. It has reached almost all our provinces and in one sense it's a global disease.”

  • HOSPITAL WORKER

    A Hospital worker in north west England has been struck down with coronarvirus.

    They fell after returning from a trip to northern Italy, the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust confirmed.

    “On returning from the trip, the member of staff sensibly self-isolated and did not come into work or have any contact with patients.

    “We can assure the public that the risk remains low. The trust is operating normally and there is no need to cancel any appointments.”

  • SPRAY AWAY

    Soldiers in South Korea have marched on Seoul in haz-mat suits to spray disenfectant in an effort to tackle the spread of coronavirus.

    The troops, decked out in grey protective overalls, sprayed streets in a popular shopping district in the capital.

    It comes as South Korea reported 435 new cases of coronavirus, pushing its total to 5,621 the second-highest after China.

  • END OF THAT CHAPTER

    The London Book Fair has been cancelled over coronavirus fears.

    Organisers of the event, due to take palce at Olympia in London from March 10-12, told visitors on Twitter this morning.

    The notice read: “It is with reluctance that we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this year's event.

    “The London Book Fair will return better than ever in 2021.”

  • RAISING AWARENESS

    A free-climber called “the French Spiderman” has scaled a skyscraper in Spain to raise awareness of coronavirus.

    Alain Robert climbed the Torre Glories today, a 38-storey building in Barcelona.
