Hitman, 18, shoots woman at point blank range in street and flees with her phone
A woman was shot at point blank range by a teenage hitman hired to steal her phone.
CCTV footage captured the moment of the attack, which left the 34-year-old Rosa Vilca lying in pain on the ground.
Police arrested the 18-year-old shooter, Christian Torres, after the incident, which took place in Lima, Peru, according to reports.
The clip shows Torres following his victim on the street and pointing what it appears to be a handgun.
Rosa turns around and shields herself with the groceries when Torres fires another shot at her.
She then falls backward to the ground and Torres grabs her phone and flees the scene before bystanders come running for help.
Police spokesman Herbert Ramos Ruiz said the gunman was hired for £225 to kill Rosa.
It's believed he used a drone to follow the victim in the days leading up to the attack.
Mr Ruiz added that it was a new form of tracking targets and said officers recovered the drone on a nearby rooftop.
He commented: "In order to apparently track the victim, four Venezuela suspects used a black vehicle and a drone, the same one that was found on a nearby roof.
"It is a new form of tracking targets that has surprised us. We believe criminals in Venezuela are using it to follow their victims."
The 34-year-old victim was taken to the Villa El Salvador Hospital although there have been no further updates on the woman's condition.
Mr Ruiz said that officers arrested the teenage suspect after a chase and confirmed that he had the woman's phone on him as well as a handgun and another smartphone.
He added: "There could be a financial motive as the victim may have a company that someone is interested in.
"Her phone could have important information needed by whoever hired the teenager. The suspect claims that he does not know who hired him."
According to the spokesman, the suspect has confessed to the police that he was hired to kill the woman for 1,000 PEN (£225).
No other arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
