Is Meghan Markle trying to shed her actress past for good?

Why IS Patrick J. Adams so desperate to apologise over Meghan’s posts? PR expert suggests Duchess’s team could have asked her Suits co-star to remove photos as she moves on from acting and manages her image in Hollywood

Patrick J. Adams’ ‘odd’ apology for posting candid pictures of Meghan Markle could be a sign that the Duchess of Sussex, her team or mutual friends put pressure on him to delete them because ‘she is no longer a working actress’, an expert has claimed.

Meghan’s former on-screen lover sent fans into a frenzy earlier this week when he posted a number of intimate photos of the American royal from when they were making the series together.

The Duchess was pictured lying playfully on the sofa and the floor on set, as well as filming on location in Toronto when playing Rachel Zane, the role that made her famous.

But hours later they vanished and Mr Adams said that they posed a ‘distraction’ from strikes by writers, supported by actors, calling it an ’embarrassing oversight’. Many actors have agreed not to promote past and present projects while SAG-AFTRA industrial action continues.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede told MailOnline today that Patrick J. Adams appeared to be using ‘excuses’ to explain the reasons for deleting pictures of Meghan. He claimed that Hollywood star could have been ‘told’ to, potentially by Team Sussex.

He said: ‘I think he may have been told to remove them as Meghan had not consented to them being produced or used or he was asked to remove due to the fact they would be replicated around the world.

‘Like any Hollywood star they want manage their image and these images may not be the best representation of the Duchess as she is now as she is no longer a working actress’.

Patrick shared a carousel of throwback behind-the-scene images of Meghan, including this one on a set sofa – they have been deleted with one PR expert claiming the Duchess herself could be involved

Adams, 42, has claimed that the reason he removed images like this one was because he felt it was not appropriate amid SAG-AFTRA’s strike

Meghan Markle ‘s former Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams has apologised  (pictured together in a promo shot)

He issued an apology for ‘foolishly and thoughtlessly’ taking a ‘trip down memory lane’ during the ‘ongoing fight’ through a message shared on his Instagram Stories

Mr Ede said the posts will have gained Adams more followers.

He said: ‘Everyone who uses social media does flash backs to positive times in their lives and posting retro pics form behind the scenes is part of social media interactions. Added to the fact that Suits is trending on Netflix, it feels like a good thing to do for Patrick as he’s getting new fans and followers who’ve only just discovered the show.

‘It seems rather odd that he is using the SAG strikes as an excuses to delete the images as the images obviously are retro so it’s not like he is working or crossing picket lines’.

Patrick J. Adams’ apology was made yesterday – but many fans refused to accept it. One said: ‘Just want to say that it’s ridiculous you had to apologize for posting fond memories of your friends. I know you’ll probably not repost to avoid future backlash, but thank you for a nice trip down memory lane’.

Some even suggested that Meghan was involved in the decision, a claim contradicted by Adams’ own statement. But one Insta follower said: I’m so sad you keep having to delete the suits pictures!’ and another wrote: ‘Meghan is angry’.

MailOnline has asked the Duchess of Sussex’s team to comment.

Patrick, who starred as Meghan’s love interest in the USA legal drama from 2011 until she left in 2017,

However, after the previously unreleased images of the mother-of-two quickly took over the internet, Patrick mysteriously deleted them all from his feed.

Now, the actor, 42, has claimed that the reason he removed them was because he felt it was not appropriate amid SAG-AFTRA’s battle with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

He issued an apology for ‘foolishly and thoughtlessly’ taking a ‘trip down memory lane’ during the ‘ongoing fight.’

‘The last couple of days, I foolishly and thoughtlessly let a trip down Suits memory lane distract me from the very real and ongoing fight everyone in @sagaftra continues to wage in its effort to win our membership realistic 21st century compensation and protections,’ he wrote in a message shared to his Instagram Stories.

Meghan Markle has been seen dancing to a reggae song in a bar in a previously unseen clip shared to Instagram

The video, posted by her Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams, shows the former actress, now 42, pushing her arms out and rolling her shoulder as she sings along to Mr. Vegas’s Heads High

The clip – which was filmed in 2012 but posted to Instagram – shows the royal with Suits co-stars and crew, including Rick Hoffman (picutred), who played Louis Litt in the legal drama, as well as Patrick’s wife Troian Bellisario, who is also an actor

‘It was an embarrassing oversight for which I’m incredibly sorry.’

Patrick added that he was grateful to those who ‘gently and swiftly corrected him.’

‘I look forward to continue the fight in the days and weeks ahead,’ he added, along with the hashtag ‘#sagaftrastrong.’

Patrick shared a carousel of throwback behind-the-scene images of Meghan and other Suits stars on Tuesday, which he captioned, ‘I miss my friends.’

One of them was a black-and-white portrait of Meghan, who turned to look at the camera with her hand resting against her lips.

Another showed Prince Harry’s wife lying on the floor with her bare feet resting on a cabinet alongside her co-star Sarah Rafferty.

He shared some more in another post the next day, writing, ‘This well is deep.’

One featured Meghan lounging on a soft and another saw her playfully sheltering under an umbrella.

A different shot showcased the former actress standing on set in a pencil skirt and white blouse as she stared at the ground and held a script in her hand.

The Toronto-born actor, 42, who played Meghan’s on-screen husband in the legal drama from 2011 to 2019, described himself as: ‘the guy from that show you’re watching on that app because that girl married that prince’

Just three weeks ago Meghan Markle was shown dancing to a reggae song in a bar in a previously unseen clip shared on Instagram by Patrick J. Adams.

The video, posted by her Suits co-star, shows the former actress, now 42, pushing her arms out and rolling her shoulder as she sings along to Mr. Vegas’s Heads High.

The clip – which was filmed in 2012 but posted to Instagram on September 7 – shows the royal with Suits co-stars and crew, including Rick Hoffman, who played Louis Litt in the legal drama, as well as Patrick’s wife Troian Bellisario, who is also an actor.

The footage appears to be taken in a darkened bar – most likely in Toronto where Suits was filmed – and shows Rick animatedly singing along to the song before the camera pans to Meghan and Troian.

‘April 1, 2012,’ Patrick simply captioned the post.

It came after Patrick, who played Meghan’s husband in the legal drama, changed his Instagram profile to reference the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Toronto-born actor, 42, described himself as: ‘the guy from that show you’re watching on that app because that girl married that prince’.

Suits tells the tale of Mike Ross (played by Adams) as a plucky law school drop out who cons his law into a prestigious law firm and falls in love with beautiful paralegal Rachel Zane (played by Markle).

Despite finishing in 2019, the show has seen a surge in viewers on screening platforms in recent months.

After launching on Netflix earlier this year, the series set a viewing time record for an acquired series in the week of June 26-July 2, with 3.14 billion minutes of watch time.
