Jeffrey Epstein ‘lived like a pig in a sty’ and allegedly ate off the floor in prison

Jeffrey Epstein ‘lived like a pig in a sty’ and ate his meals off the floor after he got his own cell following his first alleged suicide attempt, it has been claimed.

The billionaire was pronounced dead at New York Presbyterian hospital on Saturday after he was found unresponsive at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Now The Daily Beast has revealed the conditions in which Epstein allegedly lived.

According to a source, the 66-year-old was constantly requesting toilet paper while he had his own cell.

It was reported Epstein initially was with the general population at MCC after his arrest in New Jersey in early July.

However he was transferred to the Special Housing Unit (SHU) when he was targeted for extortion, a source told The Daily Beast.

The publication reported that he could be heard asking others for their inmate numbers in what was believed to be him arranging to put money in their accounts.

While Epstein was in the SHU at the time of his reported first suicide attempt two weeks ago, he shared a cell with a former police officer who was under extra security.

The former cop, Nicholas Tartaglione, was charged with kidnapping and murdering four people in a 2016 drug deal gone wrong.

Tartaglione was put in the SHU after guards allegedly found a cell phone in his old quarters.

His lawyer claimed he saved Epstein’s life two weeks ago by alerting guards.

Epstein was found with neck injuries and it wasn’t confirmed whether he had tried to take his own life.

But Tartaglione’s lawyer claimed his client was being implicated because he had complained about the conditions at MCC.

Bruce Barket said in an earlier statement: ‘We warned the judge that officials at the jail would retaliate against Nick because we have been exposing the inhumane conditions at the facility.’

Meanwhile a source has revealed to DailyMail.com that Epstein told guards and inmates that he believed someone had tried to kill him weeks ago.

The insider Epstein seemed to be in good spirits and there was no indication that he might try to kill himself when seen recently.

He reportedly hanged himself.

Friday, 2,000 documents were unsealed and lawyers representing the women women accusing him of sex trafficking had predicted things were about to get much worse in the case against him and other involved.

Epstein was arrested on July 6, accused of arranging to have sex with dozens of underage girls at his residences in New York City and Florida between 2002 and 2005.

He had plead not guilty to the charges.

Politicians and other well-known figures have asked how Epstein could have killed himself shortly after being taken off suicide watch.

AG William Barr has called for an investigation.
