Jose Antonio Reyes’ devastated son reveals last moment they spent together in heartbreaking Instagram post
JOSE Reyes' heartbroken son shared a moving tribute to his dad who was tragically killed in a car accident yesterday.
Little Jose Antonio Reyes Jr., who is the oldest of the former Arsenal star's three children, posted his loving message along with a picture of the last time he was with his father.
The 35-year-old footballer was killed as the Mercedes he was travelling in came off the road and burst into flames near to his hometown in Spain.
Within hours, Jose Jr. spoke out about his grief at the terrible loss of his young dad.
Writing in Spanish, his son said: "This is the last moment we have spent together dad.
"That day you gave me advice as you always do, but today you've gone to not come back and it's a very hard day for me!
"I was and I will always be very proud of you dad.
"We did not spend all the time we wanted together but only you and I know how much we loved each other!
"I know that from heaven you will take care of me and I will never forget you!
"I love you Papa!"
Only you and I know how much we loved each other
The ex-Spanish international and Arsenal hero – who was part of the Gunners' Invincibles side that went unbeaten in the 2003/04 Premier League season – died near Seville, Spain.
Reyes' 23-year-old cousin Jonathan died, Spanish media reports, while a third person, Juan Manuel Calderon, suffered 60 per cent burns and was taken to hospital after the car crashed at around 11.40am.
Juan's condition is said to be "very serious".
It is understood the footballer was on his way home to his family after training, having not been picked for the match against Cadiz tomorrow, Spanish media reports.
No other vehicle was involved in the accident, which is thought to have occurred after Reyes came off the road at speed and hit some concrete blocks at the side of the motorway before his Mercedes rolled over several times and caught fire.
Local paper Diario de Sevilla reports the car became a ball of fire and said it is thought Reyes may have been driving at around 120mph before the vehicle came off the road.
Shocking pictures online claim to show the aftermath of the crash with black smoke billowing from a car lying on its roof.
As well as his son, Reyes leaves behind two daughters, Noelia, five, and Triana, two, with wife Noelia Lopez.
