Man stabbed during fight in West Village amid Friday’s protests
A man was stabbed during a fight in the West Village as raucous protesters circled the neighborhood.
The stabbing, which appeared to be unrelated to the protests, happened at 7th Avenue and Christopher Street around 11:40 p.m. Friday, police said.
The victim, 37, told police he was arguing with another man, who knifed him three times in the back with an unknown sharp object, according to police.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue to be treated for his injuries.
The attacker ran, cops said.
The stabbing happened amid election-related and Black Lives Matter protests at Washington Square Park and on the surrounding streets nearby. The protests were largely peaceful, with just one person arrested, police said.
