Meghan Markle wants biography released NOW to ‘set record straight’ and show they had ‘no choice but to quit as royals’ – The Sun

MEGHAN Markle wants her and Prince Harry's biography to come out as soon as possible to set the record straight about their exit from royal life, according to reports.

The Duchess of Sussex hopes their upcoming book, Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan and the Making of a Modern A Royal Family, will show they had "no choice but to quit as royals".

Finding Freedom, which has been written by journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand is due for release online on August 11 and will come out in hard copy on August 20.

But Meghan, 38, is said to want the publication date moved up.

Meghan's friend told the DailyMail.com: "If Meghan had it her way, the book would be released tomorrow instead of three months from now.

'DESPERATE TO SHATTER DIVA IMAGE'

The friend added that Meghan "desperately wants to shatter this image of being a demanding diva who was rude to royal staffers and others on her quest for fame and power.

"She said the book will help give her and Harry a clean slate. Meghan seems to think that readers will finally understand the monumental anguish and turmoil she had to endure with a stiff upper lip.

"Meghan said people need to see her vulnerable side, something the book does in great detail."

Meghan and Harry shocked the world back in January when they announced they would be stepping away from their royal duties, instead working to become financially independent and splitting their time between the UK and North America.

She said the book will finally set the record straight and show the world why they were left with no other choice than to leave the royal life

Speaking of the pressure Meghan has faced, her friend said: "I think [Meghan] wants people to feel sorry for her, or at least have compassion for her and all she's been through, which has been anything but a fairy tale."

"She said the book will finally set the record straight and show the world why they were left with no other choice than to leave the royal life."

The couple relocated to California at the end of March following a brief stint in Canada – and are now rumoured to be living in Hollywood tycoon Tyler Perry's plush $18million home.

In a continued bid for a more private life, the pair recently put privacy screens around the house.

They were reportedly introduced to Perry through Oprah Winfrey, who they are also working with for an exclusive new documentary series.

'PLENTY TO SAY'

The insider told the Daily Mail that the Duchess "had plenty to say about what went into the book, much more than the public is being led to believe.

"The only way Finding Freedom was ever going to be published, was if Meghan had the final say and gave her seal of approval."

Co-author Omid Scobie recently said the biography gives a real inside account of the royals' story, saying: "I've been on so many engagements and around them as much as possible, and spoken to so many people in their lives, so no stone has been left un-turned.

"I've seen the couple remain faithful in their own beliefs and stand strong in the face of adversities which have been publicly played out in the press, and I would like to think this tells the definitive version of their lives together."

The book's description says that "few know the true story of Harry and Meghan" and promises to go "beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan's life together, dispelling the many rumours and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond".

It adds: "With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world."
