Megyn Kelly will host her first interview in seven years with former President Donald Trump next week – and viewers can expect the highly anticipated conversation to be tough and get ‘spicy.’
The host of the Megyn Kelly Show, shared the news in a Twitter video, announcing that the in-person interview will air next Thursday at noon on SiriusXM.
Kelly expressed her enthusiasm, assuring viewers that the interview would be nothing short of captivating.
‘I’m really looking forward to this,’ she said in the video. ‘It’s going to be great, it’s going to be spicy, and it’s going to be tough, but it’s going to be good and hopefully, we’re both going to enjoy it.’
This interview marks their first on air conversation since May 2016 when their relationship was characterized by a heated feud that peaked during the 2015 Republican primary campaign.

Kelly hinted at the depth of their forthcoming discussion, saying, ‘We’re going to have a lot of time to get into a variety of topics in person.’
She expressed her gratitude for Trump’s agreement to the interview, emphasizing that she’s neither a Trump critic nor a sycophant.
‘I’m very glad that he agreed to do it. He’s not saying yes to everyone,’ she said. ‘And to his credit, you know, Donald Trump knows that I’m not somebody who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome like the vast majority of people in the media, but I’m also not a sycophant, so I’m not going to go in there and be a bootlicker.’
‘I’m really looking forward to bringing you this one and many more to come,’ the journalist added. ‘It’s going to be fun, and he can handle it perfectly well.’
Former acting Director of the US National Intelligence, Ric Grenell, joined Kelly to discuss the interview, praising her tough but fair approach to interviewing.
‘So many people have been thinking about the last time you interviewed him,’ Grenell said about the anticipated interview.
‘I kind of flashed back while you were talking about being in your studio at Fox when we both worked at Fox, and that was during the presidential [election] and we had so many times where we talked about different issues with Trump,’ he added.
‘And I think it’s true. I think you were tough, and I think the way that you just said it is that you’re not a ‘never Trumper’ but you’re not a sycophant. And credit to Donald Trump. He’s been doing interviews where he mixes it up and isn’t afraid to get in there.’
Kelly acknowledged Trump’s undeniable charisma and reflected on their past conflicts, responding: ‘There’s no question he has a natural magnetism. Whether you love him or hate him, that is indisputable. I’m sorry, it’s just a fact.’
The interview announcement comes just two months after Kelly extended kind words to Trump, marking a significant turn in their turbulent relationship
The feud between the two personalities started in August 2015, when Kelly clashed with the then aspiring president at the first Republican presidential debate in South Carolina
Kelly expressed her enthusiasm, assuring viewers that the interview would be nothing short of captivating
‘He walks into the room, even before he was president, but especially post and there’s an air that must be paid attention to,’ she added. ‘That’s just who he is. It’s a lifetime of celebrity and now becoming really the most famous man in the world. So I’m very glad that all that nonsense between us is water under the bridge.’
‘The left freaked out at those comments, entire podcasts were devoted to those comments. Like ‘Oh my god, what’s happened to Megyn Kelly? She’s bent the knee.’ They need me to hate him for some reason. They need as many sort of foils to Donald Trump as they can get. And if they think you’re one and you turn out not to be, they become apoplectic. It’s just like a robotic chip has malfunctioned.’
The interview announcement comes just two months after Kelly extended kind words to Trump, marking a significant turn in their turbulent relationship.
In July, Kelly addressed her relationship with Trump – years after engaging in a bitter feud with the Republican both online and on national TV.
The comments came during a Monday taping of the Megyn Kelly Show, and seemed to thrust the pair’s long-held animosity in the rearview.
Kelly’s praise came after she said she enjoyed a private, ‘one-on-one’ conversation with the 77-year-old firebrand, who only a few years ago slammed her as ‘crazy’ and a ‘bimbo’.
Kelly said it was ‘frankly great to see him,’ referring to meeting the former president at a Turning Point USA conference in Palm Beach.
‘When he came into the arena, we met just one on one, his team was standing nearby, but he and I got a one on one together for the first time in years and it was, frankly great to see him. ‘
Of their prior disputes – which included a particularly venomous jab from Trump after the debate that seemed to chalk her line of questioning up to the words of someone who is menstruating – Kelly said: ‘All that nonsense between us is under the bridge.
‘He could not have been more magnanimous,’ she added.
