Melania Trump beat coronavirus with ‘natural’ treatments and vitamins after suffering body aches

FIRST Lady Melania Trump says she's now coronavirus-free – two weeks after she was diagnosed with the deadly disease.

The first lady also revealed that she and President Donald Trump's 14-year-old son, Barron, also tested positive for Covid-19.

She said in a statement on Wednesday: "I am happy to report that I have tested negative and hope to resume my duties as soon as I can."

"Along with this good news, I want people to know that I understand just how fortunate my family is to have received the kind of care that we did.

"If you are sick, or if you have a loved one who is sick—I am thinking of you and will be thinking of you every day," Melania wrote.

Melania said that she was "very fortunate as my diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, though they hit me all at once and it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after."

The first lady said she "experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time."

She said she chose to go a "natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food."

"It was an unfamiliar feeling for me to be the patient instead of a person trying to encourage our nation to stay healthy and safe," Melania said.

The first lady then thanked "everyone who reached out, and offered well wishes and prayers for our family. You remain in ours as well."

Melania also revealed that her son Barron also had coronavirus when she and the president did.

In a statement, she said: "To our great relief he tested negative, but again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn’t help but think 'what about tomorrow or the next day?'"

"My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive."

Melania confirmed that Barron "is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms."

She went on to confirm that the teenager has since tested negative.

As Trump departed the White House to head to Des Moines, Iowa, on Wednesday, he assured reporters his son was OK.

"Barron's fine," the president said.

Trump has also since tested negative for coronavirus, nearly two weeks after he was hosptialized at Walter Reed for experiencing symptoms.

On Wednesday, Trump said he's pushing for an emergency approval of experimental coronavirus treatment drug Regeneron.

He took the drug as he was being treated for the virus – and said it made him feel like "Superman."

"All I know is I took something – whatever the hell it was, I felt good very quickly," he told a crowd of supporters in Pennsylvania on Tuesday night.

Trump is one of less than 10 people who were able to access the Regeneron one under “compassionate use” rules to treat coronavirus without enrolling in any study.

The drug is not a cure, but experimental antibody treatments like the one Trump was given are among the most promising therapies being tested for treating and preventing coronavirus infections.

The antibody drugs, which work to help the immune system clear the virus, are still in testing, and their safety and effectiveness aren't yet known.
