A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in a horrific attack in a south east London street this evening.
Paramedics, multiple police vehicles and an air ambulance rushed to the scene on Woolwich New Road, south east London, after the victim attacked at 5.25pm.
A local Tesco was also evacuated as armed police barred the entrance and raided the store ‘in search of suspect’, My London reports.
A police cordon has now been put in place around the scene and drivers have been warned to avoid the area as the force carry out their investigations.
A police spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Officers are at the scene of a fatal stabbing on Woolwich New Road. A crime scene remains in place.

‘At this early stage there have been no arrests.’
On Twitter, one witness wrote: ‘Stabbing in Woolwich. Police everywhere. Two ambulances and air ambulance attending so far.’
Another person added: ‘Reported stabbing in Woolwich. Armed police & air ambulance in attendance #woolwich.’
According to My London, officers at the scene were also heard telling members of the public: ‘Please leave the area, allow us to do what we need to do to save this man’s life’.
