Mystery as dog walker finds body of man in Bristol and cops launch murder probe – The Sun

THE body of a man was discovered by a dog walker at a Bristol industrial estate yesterday, sparking a murder probe.

Police were called to the Access 18 estate in suburb Avonmouth at 5.30pm after the grim discovery.

Today, police confirmed the death is suspicious and launched a murder investigation.

A member of the public found the man's body in open land off an access lane close to Boundary Road yesterday afternoon.

It isn't known how long the victim had been there for before he was discovered.

GRIM DISCOVERY

Detective Superintendent Julie Mackay, of Avon and Somerset Police's major crime investigation team, said: “We have a team of officers and staff working on this inquiry and our priority is to identify the victim and locate his next of kin.

“We don’t yet know how long the body was at the location before being found, but a forensic post-mortem examination will be carried out by a Home Office pathologist later today to determine how the man died."

The roads around the area have been shut to allow police to carry out forensic investigations.

Det Supt Mackay called for anyone who saw "suspicious activity" in the area over the past few days to report it "as soon as possible".

She said: “Have you seen any parked vehicles which shouldn’t have been there, or anyone out of their vehicle and walking on the surrounding land?

"If so, we want to hear from you.”
