Nine Albanians are deported straight from the Home Office processing centre after arriving in the UK by small boat as officials crack down on foreign criminals and illegal immigrants
- Nine Albanians were removed from Home Office processing centre Thursday
- They were among a group of 26 who were sent back to Albanian capital Tirana
- There’s been a surge in the number of Albanians arriving from northern France
- Earlier this week the National Crime Agency (NCA) said Albanian criminals are committing ‘blatant manipulation’ of the UK’s modern slavery laws
Nine Albanians were removed directly from the Home Office’s processing centre on Thursday after arriving in Britain by small boat, the Mail can reveal.
They were among a group of 26 Albanians sent home aboard a charter flight to Tirana.
Twelve of those on the flight were foreign national offenders who had been handed combined jail sentences of more than 24 years.
The remaining five had committed immigration offences such as breaching deportation orders – two of whom had previously arrived by small boat from northern France.

Ethnic Albanians protest in Trafalgar square over comment made by Home Secretary Suella Braverman referring the channel migrant crisis as an ‘invasion’ on November 12, 2022 in London, England
Last weekend 1,500 Albanians gathered in Parliament Square to protest ‘humilitation’
A Home Office spokesman said: ‘We have returned another 26 foreign criminals and illegal entrants on a charter flight to Albania.
‘The foreign offenders on board had combined prison sentences of more than 24 years.
‘We value our Albanian community in the UK, and welcome those who travel here legally and contribute to British society.
‘We are, though, seeing large numbers making dangerous and illegal journeys, and are working hand in hand with the Albanian government to take firm action to stop them.’
The nine removed from the Manston processing centre in Kent had been refused entry to the UK by Border Force, it is understood.
It is not known how long they had been at the Manston site, near Ramsgate.
One of the Albanian criminals deported Thursday had entered the UK illegally before being sentenced to more than seven years’ imprisonment for conspiring to supply class A drugs.
Another was handed three years for drug production and fraud.
A third, who had also entered this country illegally and in breach of a deportation order, was sentenced to more than three years’ imprisonment for supplying class A and B drugs.
There has been a surge in the number of Albanians arriving from northern France by small boat.
Last month it was revealed that 12,000 Albanian nationals have come here by the route since the start of the year – up from just 50 in 2020 and 800 last year.

Organisers said last weekend’s demonstration was to ‘protest against the humiliation of Albanians in Britain’ after Home Secretary Suella Braverman referred to the channel migrant crisis as ‘an invasion’
Earlier this week the National Crime Agency (NCA) said Albanian criminals are committing ‘blatant manipulation’ of the UK’s modern slavery laws.
The NCA warned Albanian organised crime groups are bringing workers into Britain by small boat to work in the drugs trade, such as cannabis farms.
In some cases Albanians have been ‘coached’ how to exploit modern slavery laws if they are arrested, officers said.
NCA deputy director Andrea Wilson added: ‘A significant proportion of Albanians in the UK are likely to have arrived here illegally.’
Last weekend 1,500 Albanians gathered in Parliament Square – and draped their national flag over the pedestal of Sir Winston Churchill’s statue.
Organisers said it was to ‘protest against the humiliation of Albanians in Britain’ after Home Secretary Suella Braverman referred to the channel migrant crisis as ‘an invasion’.
The total number of arrivals across the Channel since the start of the year – across all nationalities – has now reached more than 42,100, smashing the 28,500 record seen in the whole of 2021.
