Our five-year-old daughter had her face 'ripped off' by a vicious American Bully – now we want the dog put down | The Sun
THE DISTRAUGHT family of a five-year-old girl whose face was "ripped off" by a vicious dog are demanding the dog be put down.
Farrah-Leigh Nichol was undergoing more surgery today after being mauled by the Pocket Bully outside a Nisa store on Saturday evening.
But her mum has been shocked to discover the pet has not been destroyed as was previously thought.
But it has now been revealed the male dog – a variant of the American Bully breed – is still being kept in police kennels.
Farrah-Leigh was attacked after going to stroke the animal after asking permission from the owner on Saturday evening outside the shop in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.
But as the schoolgirl gently patted the dog's head it pounced – biting a huge chunk out of her left cheek.

Farrah-Leigh's family assumed the animal had now been put down, but Cleveland Police said: "The dog has not been destroyed and remains in the kennels as we have seized it."
Her mother Danielle Kemp, 32, told MailOnline today: "'It needs destroying – that dog needs killing as soon as possible and the owner needs to be prosecuted.
"Justice needs to be served for my poor baby girl who is suffering the trauma of having to go into surgery."
Farrah-Leigh was receiving more skin grafts in hospital this morning, as Danielle and 30-year-old partner Alex Nichol kept a bedside vigil.

The girl's dad Alex, who kicked the Bully away when it launched the attack on Saturday, has since called for all breeds to be muzzled in the wake of similar recent dog attacks on children.
He said: "We have three dogs ourselves. We have a Staffie and two XL Bullies. But I would be happy to muzzle them.
"If all dogs were muzzled it would just take away the risk. If it saved just one child it would be worth it.
"Always be wary of dogs you don't know. My daughter loved dogs, but this incident has obviously given her a full fear factor.
"We're all still in shock at the moment. We can't believe this has happened."
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to send Farrah-Leigh to Disney Land with her family once she is well enough.

New NHS figures last month revealed Britain's most dangerous spots for dog attacks with thousands rushed to hospital after maulings.
And MPs recently called for the American Bully XL to become the fifth breed added to the UK’s banned list.
