Rapist Jason Lawrance jailed for extra two-and-a-half years for fresh sex attacks on women he met through dating websites – The Sun

ONE of Britain’s worst serial rapists was jailed for a further 2½ years yesterday for fresh sex attacks on women he met via dating websites.

Jason Lawrance, 54, was jailed for life in 2016 with a minimum sentence of  12½ years.

Over two trials it was revealed how the 54-year-old preyed upon women – usually middle-aged widows or divorcees – over the internet and convinced them to meet up in person.

Once they were alone the keen sportsman and amateur boxer forced himself on them, using his 17st bulk to overpower them.

Prosecutors told how Lawrence carried out his crimes in a variety of locations, including secluded spots in the back of his van where he had built a bed, quiet car parks, hotels, and his victims’ homes.

He was found guilty in July of five rapes, one sexual assault, and one assault by penetration.

Yesterday Judge Mr Justice Baker sentenced Lawrance to life with a minimum  of 15 years at Nottingham crown court,  increasing his  minimum term by 2½ years.

Detective Sergeant Rachael North, of East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “The new charges brought against Lawrance were a testament to the investigation team to bring justice for those women subjected to his crimes.

“Lawrance is a prolific sexual predator and I hope this case acts as reassurance to the public that just because a defendant may already be in prison, we are committed to taking all reports of sexual assault seriously and will investigate allegations we receive.”

He has been convicted of attacking 12 women.
