The chief executive officer (CEO) of Generation Partners, Sergey Kartashov, thinks that the IP Box is playing a crucial role in terms of attracting more investors and companies towards Cyprus. According to him, Limassol, a coastal city of Cyprus, has the potential to become another Silicon Valley in the field of intellectual property. IP Box makes Cyprus a tax incentive regime that enhances the creation and use of the intellectual property.

Kartashov shared his thoughts related to getting tax benefits on this island. He said, “To obtain tax benefits, you require not only a nominal company, but a full-fledged development office.” The purpose of the company should be to produce intellectual property products or develop purchased products. The rapid development of Limassol is due to the arrival of foreign companies and investors in recent time. The offices of the strongest IT companies have already been established on the island. The market is in a good mood due to the production of innovative products.

Sergey Kartashov also talked about the operation of IT asset management firms in Cyprus. The role of any such company is to gather information about the new products, analyze it, and share it with the clients. According to Sergey Kartashov, Generation Partners analyzes more than 30 startups every month. He said, “usually, only 0.5-1 percent of those companies are interesting enough for investing.” He declared this percentage a “great score.”

The company analyzed some of the most interesting projects in recent years including BNext, a Spanish bank startup, Majelan, a French podcast startup, and Psious, a Virtual Reality (VR) startup. The strategy of his company is to combine classical investments and highly profitable products with higher levels of risk.
