Single mum-of-two devastated as burglar ransacks home and unwraps all her kids' Christmas presents

A SINGLE mum-of-two has been left devastated after thieves ransacked her home and unwrapped ALL her kids' Christmas presents.

The cruel burglars burst into Rachel Horrocks' house in Greater Manchester and took £500 worth of gifts and sentimental jewellery.

They forced their way in through the back door before pulling out wrapped presents and heartlessly opening them.

The stunned mum had stashed away 37 boxes of LEGO, My Little Pony sets, Frozen jewellery and hair boxes.

All of them had been found underneath beds and in wardrobes, and destroyed or taken.

Rachel told the Manchester Evening News: "I had been buying Christmas presents since June and I had wrapped them up so my children wouldn’t be able to find them.

“Whoever did this has actually unwrapped the presents before throwing the wrapping paper all over the floor and bed.”

"He [her son] has autism so the knock-on effects are far worse than anyone can imagine.

“It’s thrown everything off for him. He’s very strict on his routine, everything has to happen at the right time and be in a set place.

“He won’t return home because someone has been in his room, someone has touched all his things and moved them around.”

What was stolen

  • 37 boxes of LEGO, including Cars, Harry Potter and Ninjago sets
  • Three massive Frozen dolls and four boxes of jewelry
  • Jurassic World Velociraptor Blue, gyroscope and indoraptor
  • Five LOL Surprise balls
  • Four My Little Pony sets
  • Two silver necklaces and a pendant
  • 9ct gold bracelet with amber stones
  • Five pairs of silver earrings
  • Silver diamond ring with three stones

As well as ruining Christmas and distressing her kids, Rachel said the thieves took jewellery that had been given to her by her gran.

Items that had been specially left to the mum in her gran's will have been stolen, and cannot be replaced.

But her concern is not for the things that were stolen – she fears it will take a long time for her son Harry to recover.

She said it will be a challenge to get him back in the house and comfortable again.

The mum issued an appeal to the burglars – to bring the items back.

She said they can drop them off anywhere and she can salvage Christmas again.
