YOBS who attack war memorials and daub them with graffiti could face being hurled into prison for ten years.
Tough sentences may be dished out to protesters under new plans it was revealed last night.
Justice Secretary Robert Buckland, Home Secretary Priti Patel and Attorney General Suella Braverman have been staging top-level talks over the move, the Sunday Telegraph reported.
It comes in the wake of 125 Tory MPs getting behind a new Desecration of War Memorials Bill.
The Blue Collar Conservative Group of MPs has urged the Government “must send a clear signal that the Conservative Party is the proud party of law and order – it will not stand idly by as our democracy is dismantled in this way.”
Mansfield MP Ben Bradfield added: “My constituents expect the Conservative Government to be a staunch defender of our culture and our heritage, and to take as strong a stance on law and order today as we did in the election.”
Sir Winston Churchill's statue in Parliament Square and the Cenotaph had to be boarded up ahead of Saturday's demonstrations.
On Monday, a defiant Black Lives Matter protester bragged about vandalising the wartime PM's statue as he was a "confirmed racist".
Another activist was filmed taking a lighter to the Union Flag draping the war memorial to Britain’s dead in Whitehall.
