UK weather forecast: Seven-day scorching heatwave on its way just days after UK hit with SNOW

THERE was SNOW in the UK yesterday – but next week, temperatures are set to soar again.

A seven-day heatwave is predicted – and it'll begin just days after residents of Walsall in the West Midlands saw a dusting of summer snow.

Forecasters have predicted blue skies and rising temperatures in the coming days, with the mercury beginning to rise at the weekend.

And it could hit 28C next week in a welcome return to lockdown sunshine.

The hottest parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday will be London and the South East.

It follows a washout June so far.

There's been plenty of miserable weather this week, with heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The Met Office has issued two yellow warnings – meaning 'be aware' – for thunderstorms already this week.

And torrential rain sparked floods in Manchester, Birmingham, Dorset, East Midlands and parts of Wales.

Almost 200 properties were flooded overnight in Pentre, South Wales – four months after it was hit twice by flooding during Storm Dennis.

But Brits are likely to have more opportunity to enjoy relaxed lockdown laws when the weather improves next week.

Long-range forecasts show temperatures will mainly remain in the mid-20s, but some areas of the southeast of England will see highs of around 30C.

The Met Office weather forecast from June 30 to July 14 says that although there is a risk of showers – with some turning heavy and possibly thundery across the south – the UK should also see some drier and brighter interludes.

The forecast says: "Temperatures should generally be above average, possibly turning very warm in places.

"In early July, a transition to more settled conditions is signalled with many seeing more prolonged drier and sunnier spells.

A heatwave next week will see temperatures rocket to 28C by Wednesday and will continue into the weekend."
