A woman in China has been caught stealing 24 cleavers from a supermarket by hiding them in her underpants.

She was found guilty of theft and sentenced to seven months in prison.

A court said she stole 24 cleavers (file photo), which were said to be worth around £175
The incident took place in a shop the Liujiang District of Liuzhou, a city in southern China’s Guangxi Province, on April 15.
According to Liujiang District People’s Court, the theft came to light after supermarket’s owner realised all of the ‘expensive’ cleavers in the store had gone missing.
The kitchen tools were said to be worth around 1,500 yuan (£175) in total, the court said in a social media statement on Monday.
The owner, Mr Liu, watched the surveillance footage and found out that a woman in black could have been the suspect.

She also stole eight tubes of toothpaste on the day and kept three of them (pictured) at home
After Mr Liu called the police, officers discovered that the goods had been stolen by a female customer, identified as Wei, who entered the shop at around noon.
The perpetrator removed the knives from the shelves when no one was around her.
She was said to move the sharp objects out of the supermarket in several batches. She also stole eight tubes of toothpaste, the court said.
Wei then re-sold the 24 cleavers and five tubes of toothpaste at a local market and earned about 500 yuan (£58).
She kept the rest of the toothpaste at home for her own use.
The court said that Wei had been convicted of theft three times in the past, therefore the judge decided to give her a severe punishment this time.
In addition to the seven months imprisonment, Wei was given a fine of 2,000 yuan (£233).
The court added that police had retrieved all the stolen items and returned them to the shop owner.
