Furious learner driver who had just failed his test ripped L-plates off and drove away on his own forcing police to chase them down

  • The motorist took and failed a driving test in Derby but proceeded to drive away

Police were forced to chase a brazen learner driver who failed his test after he ripped off his L-plates and drove away.

The motorist took and failed a driving test in Derby but proceeded to drive away in anger, according to Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit.

A spokesperson for the unit tweeted a picture of the yellow Mini pulled over on the A50 after the driver had tried to make it home to Leicester.

A police tweet said that the driver ‘threw his teddy out the pram at the test centre’, before jumping into the car and driving off.

Police said they recovered the vehicle and reported him to HM Courts and Tribunals Service.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted today: ‘A50. Fails his driving test in Derby. Throws his teddy out the pram at the test centre, ripping L plates off, jumping in the car and driving away.

‘Heading home to Leicester we waited for him. Stopped, vehicle recovered and reported to court.’
