2pm Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd ‘verbally agree’ deal for Mandzukic, Arsenal Klostermann blow, Real Madrid join Haaland race – The Sun
THE transfer window is drawing ever closer and a number of teams will be looking to make sweeping changes to their squads.
Chelsea will hope to make up for lost time if their ban is overturned, while underachievers Tottenham and Man Utd will also be keen to dip into the market.
MARK BOWEN has been announced as the new Reading manager after the Championship club sacked Jose Gomes.
The appointment marks Bowen's first step into the hotseat on a permanent basis having spent much of his career as an assistant manager.
Most recently, the Welshman was Reading's sporting director, a position he took up in the summer after a short spell as a consultant.
Bowen faces a big task of not only turning round a team stuck in 22nd in the table but also uniting the fans behind him.
CHELSEA star Jorginho would be open to a return to Italy, according to his agent.
Joao Santos said: “In football everything is possible, the desire to return [to Italy] is always there.
“With the experience gained in the Premier League [he] could make a great contribution to Serie A.
“He could play in the two or three teams fighting for the Scudetto.”
AARON RAMSEY is more than capable of filling the hole left at Juventus by Claudio Marchisio, says the former Bianconeri star.
The Welshman joined Juve from Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer but comes with a hefty wage packet totalling around £400,000-a-week.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Marchisio said his number was now: “In the best hands.
“Ramsey is a fantastic player.
“The No8 is such a beautiful number that it had to end up on someone's back.
“My preferences were either Ramsey or an academy player who moved up to the first team.”
PHIL FODEN should leave Manchester City on loan in January, says Stuart Pearce.
The 19-year-old has not started for Pep Guardiola's side in the Premier League this season despite his encouraging spell of form.
Mills told talkSPORT: “He's coming to that age where he needs to play some games. I think six months out on loan, if he hasn't broken into the team, would do him the world of good.
“Guardiola loves the kid to bits, but the bottom line is, you've got to play.
“Frank's chucked a few youngsters in at Chelsea and that's probably brought Foden's name to the fore a little bit more, because he isn't getting game time.
“You and I know the best experiences come from game time and not training.”
MARIO BALOTELLI'S Brescia salary will reportedly QUADRUPLE if he nets 15 Serie A goals this season.
The striker, 29, joined his hometown club in the summer after they were promoted to Italy's top flight.
According to Corriere della Sera, Balotelli's money will increase four-fold if he hits the magic number.
He is thought to be on around £870,000 per year after signing a three-season deal at the northern Italy outfit.
So far he has one goal for his new club – a header in the 2-1 defeat to Napoli last month.
