Deontay Wilder brutally KOs Luis Ortiz in the seventh round after surviving huge scare to set-up Tyson Fury rematch – The Sun

DEONTAY WILDER set-up a rematch with Tyson Fury after delivering another explosive knockout for his highlight reel against Luis Ortiz.

The WBC champion had lost every round to the challenger before flattening the veteran with a straight right at the end of the seventh that secured him 10 successful defences and tied him with Muhammad Ali.

Wilder was handing over rounds generously, letting Ortiz ping him with jabs and dictate where in the fight was taken.

The Sky Sports pundits were unable to hand the Alabama giant a single round until they went past the midway point.

Ironically the seventh round was the session in which Ortiz seriously wobbled Wilder in March 2018, when the 6ft 7in Tuscaloosa ace had to cling on for dear life.

This time, however, the roles were reversed. Ortiz was once again boxing nicely on the back foot and the southpaw appeared to parry a left-handed jab from Wilder and prepare for a counter.

But before the 40-year-old Cuban got anywhere close to firing back, Wilder landed a savage right hand that rendered him utterly senseless.

The champ said: “With Ortiz, you see why everyone has avoided him, I had to play with him and calculate. I had to measure him.

“I had to go back and forward and use different tactics, my IQ in the ring is high but I get no credit for it.

“I bust him up with a left hook and took it on from there. I was very confident in my ability and skill. I had to calculate Ortiz perfectly.

“My opponents have to be perfect for all 12 rounds, I only have to be perfect for two seconds.

“I got my range and got my distance and pulled the trigger.

“Tyson Fury is definitely next and then I want to unify the division against the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr.”
