Watch Courteney Cox and Daughter Coco Arquette Do Their Own Version Of 'The Routine'
- Courteney Cox and daughter Coco Arquette just did a dance routine on Instagram.
- The dance was immediately compared to “The Routine” from Friends by Courteney’s followers.
- Luckily for Coco, the new routine is much less embarrassing than the Friends version.
As every hardcore Friends fan knows, there’s an episode called “The One with the Routine,” where you learn that Monica and Ross have a hilariously awful dance routine that they came up with as kids. The two decide to bust it out during a taping of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to try to get on-camera, and things don’t exactly go according to plan.
Still, the routine is so bad, it’s awesome, and you better believe people remember it. Fast-forward to 2020, and Courteney Cox (who, of course, played Monica on Friends) just did her own version of “The Routine” with her 15-year-old daughter, Coco Arquette.
Courteney reposted the video on her Instagram from TikTok and hinted the whole process wasn’t seamless. “Wanna see your child lose their patience? Do a TikTok with them. #familyaerobics,” she captioned the video.
In the video, Coco is front and center, busting out some serious moves, with her mom in the background. They both look pretty nonchalant, but Courteney has an especially chill expression her face as she goes through the motions (unlike, of course, her character from Friends).

It’s not the ~actual~ routine (that one has some seriously lame moves in it I’m guessing a teenager wouldn’t be caught dead doing), but it’s a routine—and people definitely noticed the similarities to the iconic dance. “Where is Ross??? he should also be dancing,” one person wrote. “Need to teach her the routine,” another said.
Btw, here’s “The Routine” from Friends, in case you needed a little refresher:
Coco hasn’t been in the spotlight much since she was a kid, but she’s clearly all grown up now. She’s also pretty Insta-famous for a teenager, with more than 140,000 followers.
Ultimately, these two are just a mom and her daughter busting a move at home for kicks. Ya know, NBD.
