Coronation Street spoilers: Hope Stape held hostage by Jade as hiding place uncovered?

Coronation Street exposed Jade Rowan’s (played by Lottie Henshall) true identity last month when she emerged as John Stape’s (Graeme Hawley) daughter. In at attempt to have a relationship with her only remaining relative Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan), Jade has gone to extreme lengths, but this week, it seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when the storyline turns sinister. Has Jade kidnapped Hope and is keeping her hostage in her attic like dad John similarly did to Rosie Webster (Helen Flanagan)? 

It comes as ITV released a preview clip for an episode which is set to air later this week. 

In it, Jade is paid a visit by two police officers who ask her about her connection to Hope’s disappearance. 

But it is the final few seconds which really sends chills down viewers spines when Jade looks to the attic. 

“If you don’t mind we’d like to take a look around?” The policeman asks.

Trying to thrown them off scent, Jade questions: “Why? What are you looking for?”

“We believe you may be involved in the disappearance of Hope Stape,” the policeman continued. 

“Hope? She’s gone missing? When?” Jade asked worried about the welfare of her half-sister. 

“So you’re saying you haven’t seen her? We’re in possession of a phone you’ve given her – hundreds of messages, many promising you’ll take her away, look after her?” The policewoman added. 

“I was trying to get custody, yes,” Jade replied. “But I promise you I don’t have her – I know it looks bad, but she’s my sister. Her mother doesn’t take care of her like I do, she resents Hope, treats her badly.” 

“Fiona Stape has been cleared of all allegations,” the policeman explained and his colleague added: “If you’ve nothing to hide, you won’t mind if we take a look.”

After agreeing to them having a quick look around, Jade then started panicking when one of the officers went to check upstairs. 

“I’m telling you she’s not here!” She shouted at the policewoman.

“Then you’ve nothing to worry about,” she said calmly. 

But Jade tried once more to convince her: “You’re wasting your time! You should be out there looking for her!” 

She then turned her head and looked up towards the ceiling when the attic hatch came into view. 

What is she hiding up there? Could Hope be kept hostage against her will?

Elsewhere in the ITV soap, there is a chance Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) could uncover the extent of Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Bartholomew) abuse. 

For months and months, viewers have seen the Speed Daal chef suffer emotional and manipulative abuse by her controlling husband. 

But those watching at home have realised there may be hope for Yasmeen after she cleaned her house from top to bottom – the same house Geoff bugged with secret cameras to spy on her. 

Coronation Street returns tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
