Dan Walker shuns Super Bowl move as he claims ‘My BBC Breakfast boss will decapitate me’

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, 42, joked his boss will “decapitate” him if he turned up to work after no sleep. In view of his 615,000 Twitter followers, he wrote: “I’m tempted to pull an all-nighter and watch #SuperBowlLIV but my #BBCBreakfast boss will decapitate me [crying with laughter emojis].

“Alarm goes off at 03:11 so, while I prepare for an early(ish) night, at least let me know what your #SuperbowlSnackNews is. What are you rocking?”

Millions tuned into watch Kansas City Chiefs compete against San Francisco 49ers and watch Jennifer Lopez and Shakira perform in the Super Bowl 2020 half time show last night.

Dan’s tweet prompted many of his fans to comment, with one querying his specific alarm time. 

They commented: “Talk us through 3:11 then, Dan?”

He replied: “03:10 seems too early and 03:15 is too late. Setting it to 03:11 annoys me every night… but it works.”

Dan told his co-stars Louise Minchin and Sally Nugent about his thoughts on the show this morning.

“I did consider staying up for the Super Bowl last night,” he said.

“You didn’t stay up Dan? I’m so disappointed in you,” Louise replied.

He added: “Our boss would’ve told us off.”

Sally chimed in: “He would’ve gone bonkers, you would’ve had about 10 minutes sleep wouldn’t you, it’s not enough.”

“You also wouldn’t have admitted to it until weeks later,” Louise added, laughing.

Also on the show, Sally Nugent called out Dan Walker for his comment, she said, he made about 50-year-old Jennifer Lopez.

Ahead of showing a clip of the pair in action, Sally turned to Dan and said: “Well this is just for you Dan, I don’t think you really liked this last time.

“I’m going to show you a bit more of the halftime show.”

Dan replied: “All I said was, she’s in her fifties [Jennifer Lopez]’.”

“No, I think I said, ‘If you’ve got it flaunt it,’ and you said ‘If you’ve got it, cover it up’.”

Laughing, he said: “You’ll get me in trouble again.”

Viewers were then shown a short clip from Jennifer’s set, which also featured the popstar’s daughter Emme.

The songstress and Shakira sang 20 songs between them in their 12-minute set, which was praised by viewers.
