Breckenridge has quickly risen to fame after acting in This Is Us. However, according to IMDb, her acting career started almost two decades earlier. In 1998 she landed her first role as Kit Murphy in a TV movie called Ghosts of Fear Street. The movie was based on R.L. Stine’s book and was very Goosebumps-esque. Breckenridge didn’t take long to start landing roles after her movie debut. Two years later, she played Kate Douglas in Dawson’s Creek. In 2002 Breckenridge played Michelle Miglis in Charmed. That same year she also landed a role as Kit Holburn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Appearing in three of the decade’s most popular shows is an excellent indication of early acting success.

However, it wasn’t until 2007 that Breckenridge snagged her first significant recurring role on the show Dirt. The show followed a tabloid editor, played by Courteney Cox, as she covered outlandish celebrity news stories. Breckenridge made appearances on the show for a year while playing a character named Willa McPherson.

However, the actor has starred in various roles, including Young Moira O’Hara / Kaylee in American Horror Story.

During an interview with Young Hollywood in 2012, Breckenridge talked about how different her “naughty vixen” character in American Horror Story was from her real-life personality.

“It’s really difficult because it’s nothing like my personality. I mean, I’ve never acted that way in my life,” said Breckenridge. “It’s tricky, being that overtly sexual is not as easy as you would think.”

Two years after her appearance in American Horror Story, Breckenridge landed a 14-episode arc on The Walking Dead. She played Jessie Anderson living in the Alexandria Safe-Zone. During the show, Jessie met Rick Grimes in the safe zone, and the two quickly fell in love. Breckenridge also starred in four episodes of True Blood as Katerina Pelham.

Dedicated fans may have recognized Breckenridge for her various TV and movie roles. However, her most notable work as of late has been in the popular Netflix original series Virgin River. Unlike her other roles, Breckenridge plays the lead role in Virgin River as Mel Monroe.

After the death of her husband, Mel moves from Los Angeles to a small town in Northern California. While there, she encounters several different personalities that are very different from those she’s used to dealing with in the city. Overall, Virgin River is a wholesome show with just the right amount of romance and drama to keep things interesting. The show has streamed for three seasons, and Netflix has already renewed Virgin River for a fourth season.

According to IMDb, the This Is Us Sophie actor has a recently announced project called In Limbo. The project features Breckenridge as Amy, a woman who dies and then requires the help of her husband to escape the purgatory she’s stuck in. Besides that, fans can watch and see what will happen between Sophie and Kevin during the This Is Us Season 6 final episodes.
