We look at all-weather walking and how it can help promote better bone health
WALKING helped Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson shift more than four stone – and it also helps with bone health, reduces the risk of osteoporosis and aids vitamin D absorption, whatever your speed.
Today I look at all-weather walking and our Beauty Editor puts setting powders to the test . . .

SNUG BUD – One of the strangest things I have tried.
This wearable hot-water bottle might not be a fashion staple yet but it makes an ideal walking companion on cold, blustery days.
It’s easily worn under jackets, with pockets to tuck your hands in, and stays warm for up to six hours.
Available in several colours, including camouflage, it also doubles as a pocket for keys and phones.

As the price of energy bills soars I’ve even taken to wearing my Snug Bud at home as a cheaper alternative to putting the heating on.
Snug Bud, £54.95, amazon.co.uk.
TRACK – Fitbit’s latest accessory is sleek and lightweight and comes in white, black and blue.
As well as being a handy fitness tracker, with an app, it can also monitor sleep and stress.
Great for tracking my progress on my favourite stomping routes.
It doesn’t have all the apps of something like the Apple Watch so I only had to charge every few days.
The Fitbit Charge 5 Health and Fitness Tracker is pricey though. £129.99, fitbit.com

JACKET – We are on a bank holiday so that always means unpredictable weather.
This coat has just come on the market and is a brilliant option for spring and summer.
The OutDry Extreme Mesh Waterproof Hooded Shell Jacket is lightweight at just over 300g, breathable and fully waterproof.
I love the fact it is so dinky you can easily pack it into a bag.
It features an adjustable, drawcord hood and hem and decent pockets with zips.
And it has a lovely, soft interior. Comes in black and hibiscus red and it will keep you going for years. £225, columbiasportswear.co.uk

BUDGET – 17. Ultimate Look Finishing Powder, (£3 for 9g, boots.com):
The coverage was heavier than I expected, so I had to powder my whole face rather than just my T-zone or the finish was uneven.
I found it a little too much for my undereyes.
While it initially mattified my make-up, after a few hours the vitamin E and sweet almond oil meant my face looked greasy again, so it’s better for dry complexions.
But at just £3, you can afford to reapply, and it really does outshine some powders that are ten times the price.
MID – Sculpted By Aimee Loose Setting Velvet Veil Powder, (£23 for 12g, boots.com).
The packaging of this loose powder is genius and really helps reduce waste as you aren’t greeted with a cloud of dust every time you open it.
The powder itself is scarily white in the pot but disappears on the skin and the combination of hyaluronic acid and cica help absorb excess oil without leaving skin looking chalky.
I just wish that it came in a pressed version.
LUXURY – Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish, (£36 for 8g, cultbeauty.co.uk):
If you have a special occasion coming up, get this powder.
It does exactly what it says on the tin and creates a velvety, photo finish by blurring blemishes without causing any flashback, settling into fine lines or catching on dry patches.
It comes in four shades and they’re pretty flexible, so there’s something to suit everyone without causing a grey cast.

Plus, it layers really well if you find you need to reapply during the day.
It is expensive but the peace of mind is so worth it and a little goes a long way.
