Kate and William joined King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, at the Diplomatic Corps Reception last night at Buckingham Palace. The Princess of Wales was a vision in a red gown, which she paired with the Lotus Flower Tiara.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, analysed the couple’s movements and facial expressions.

He said Kate displayed “great gravitas” and “hidden communication” with William at Buckingham Palace.

The couple also kept their distance in a “quietly confident” manner, according to Darren.

He said: “Kate Middleton knew all eyes would be on her during the Diplomatic Corps Reception held at Buckingham Palace and she made sure she was dressed for the occasion, choosing a red gown, knowing that the colour will allow her to stand out.

“She feels most powerful when wearing red and no doubt used her dress to channel the inner confidence needed to hold her own at such an event.”

The Princess of Wales appeared to be wearing a Jenny Packham ‘Elodie’ gown, which cost £10,300 on the website Green Bird Boutiques before selling out due to its popularity.

The dress is described as red, with a round neckline, long sleeves, and a close fit. It was also covered in floral motifs and had a back hook closure.

Kate paired this with a tiara featuring a lotus design, sometimes also referred to as The Papyrus Tiara. The first royal known to wear this tiara was the late Queen Mother.

Focusing on the both the Wales’ body language traits, Darren continued: “Again, we saw Kate distance herself from William in a quietly confident manner, proving she and William have a willingness and the strength to operate individually as well as a couple.

“Kate was seen engaging with the guests – portraying genuine expressions of happiness and joy, staying true to her nature.

“We are yet to see moments where Kate appears disingenuous when interacting with others.

“It’s clear she has a genuine passion and enjoyment for attending these sorts of events.”

The body language expert claimed that “Kate conducts herself with great gravitas, and when she does join William, the two are suitably in sync”.

“They maintain lots of eye contact when together and we see subtle gestures, like a touch on the elbow or briefly holding hands when appropriate,” he said.

“They also share little innocuous looks that we tend to see a couple who have been together for a long time exchange.

“It’s a hidden communication in the best possible sense that only strengthens them as a pairing.”

As well as the tiara, Kate donned a pair of the late Queen Elizabeth’s diamond earrings, along with her GCVO and the Royal Family Order.

The earrings were Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Frame earrings. These jewels feature a cluster stud with a floral motif, from which a pendant of four graduating diamonds is suspended.

The pendant is surrounded by a diamond frame. The late Queen wore the earrings during the State Opening of Parliament in May 2012.

As Kate dazzled in red, William opted for a black blazer on top of a white shirt and a white bow tie.
