This Parody Video About What Beauty Gurus Would Look Like In the '80s Is So Accurate It Hurts

Beauty influencers didn’t exist 40 years ago in the same way they do today, but we can all agree that if they did, it’d be a pretty wild thing to look back on. There’s no telling what kind of wild beauty advice people would’ve been given back in the ’80s, but YouTuber Jaime French just shared her idea of what that might’ve looked like in a hilarious new video.

The makeup artist — who’s also responsible for this painfully accurate ’90s beauty guru parody — recently shared a fake makeup tutorial detailing what it probably would’ve been like if people got their beauty advice from internet beauty gurus in 1987, and according to her, a lot of hairspray would have been involved.

In the video, French dresses up for her “glamour shot” and creates an ’80s-inspired look complete with bright red blush (applied from her cheekbones to above her eyebrows, of course), thick black eyeliner, blue eyeshadow, a “god awful” metallic gold lipstick that she made sure to blot, and press-on nails. I’ll admit that I wasn’t even born in the ’80s and, for some reason, I still feel like I’m being called out by this.

Watch the video above for a quick laugh.
