Alex Trebek Wins Outstanding Game Show Host at Daytime Emmy Awards 2019 – Watch Speech!

Alex Trebek has received an amazing honor!

The 78-year-old Jeopardy host, who announced in March that he has stage four pancreatic cancer, hit the stage at the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards at Pasadena Civic Center on Sunday (May 5) to accept his award for Outstanding Game Show Host.

Alex delivered a sweet and funny speech that touched on his recent health troubles.

“I’m not a big fan of sympathy votes,” Alex said, recalling how he was nominated last year after he had a pair of blood clots removed from his brain. “You would think that would’ve elicited a certain amount of sympathy. But I didn’t win!”

“I can’t deny the fact that you like me. Right now, you like me,” Alex continued. “Maybe I’ve been worrying about the wrong thing and I should just do what Sally Field did in a different venue many, many years ago and look at this as a sign that you guys like me and that you value my work. If that’s the case, I can live with that.”
