Andrew Glennon: I Thought Amber Portwood Might Kill Our Son
It was just over a month ago that Amber Portwood could not stop gushing over Andrew Glennon.
The Teen Mom OG veteran praised her boyfriend and baby daddy as her “soulmate” and added that she could totally have a second child with Glennon because he’s a “beautiful person.”
That was then.
Now?
Oh boy. Things can change quickly.
Around 6 a.m. on Friday, Portwood was arrested on felony domestic violence charges after she allegedly attacked Glennon about three hours earlier.
She is accused of doing so while Glennon held the couple’s one-year old son, James, in his arms.
According to the dispatch audio recording from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a responder claims:
“I received a text message from somebody saying that their life and their son’s life is in danger.”
(For the record, Indiana is one of the states that allows one to text 911 with an emergency.)
A spokesperson for the Indiana Police Department also spoke to Radar Online and confirmed what led to Portwood’s arrest, telling the celebrity gossip website:
“Officers spoke to the male victim, who stated his live-in-girlfriend and he were having a disagreement.
“During which time the female, later identified as Amber Portwood, assaulted him, while he was holding their 1-year-old child.”
This is all the information we have at the moment about what transpired — but it’s just about all we need to be very concerned about Amber, Andrew and, most of all, very young James.
Child Protective Services has reportedly gotten involved in the matter, meaning we may tragically be in for another case of a Teen Mom cast member losing custody of her infant.
(The day before Amber’s arrest, Jenelle Evans finally regained custody of her small kids after she lost them for several weeks because authorities believed she and husband David Eason had been placing them in danger.)
We hate to speculate, but Portwood actually spent 17 months in jail back in 2013 for assaulting her ex-husband and the father of her now-10-year old, Gary Shirley.
In this case, Portwood was initially charged with two felony counts of domestic battery in December of 2010 after an incident with Shirley.
She pleaded guilty in June of 2011… but was arrested the following December for violating her probation after police found her to be in possession of prescription pills, leading to her prison stint.
Amber and Gary are now on very solid terms, with the latter Tweeting in response to his ex’s latest run-in with the law:
My prayers are with @AmberLPortwood, Andrew, & most importantly baby James, idk any of the particulars, however I’m thinking of them.
He then referenced the daughter he shares with Portwood and concluded:
And for all the questions and concerns Leah was/is currently camping with her best friend.
The MTV personality started dating Glennon in 2017 after meeting him on the set of Marriage Boot Camp.
They’ve been a mostly stable couple throughout their time together.
“I don’t see anybody else I could even, like, mesh with after him,” Portwood told Us Weekly in May, adding:
“I might have another kid with him. … I’ve been through a lot of stuff with men commitment-wise, but he’s that guy that you don’t want to lose out.
“Honestly, I feel like it was meant to be, the way that how we met. It was just beautiful.”
So… what went wrong?
Considering Portwood said these words just a few weeks ago?
We can’t say, but Amber has often opened up about her struggles with bipolar disorder in the past, revealing how difficult it has been during a therapy session with her boyfriend on an episode of Teen Mom OG.
Sadly, this quote now seems especially relevant:
“I haven’t really been doing very well when it comes to mood swings,” she said this spring. “Any little thing, tiny, tiny thing, will enrage me.”
