Ben Fogle defends Our Yorkshire Farms Amanda and Clive Owen amid split rumours

TV presenter Ben Fogle has shared his support for Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda and Clive Owen, after the couple confirmed they were going through a "rocky patch" in their marriage.

Earlier this week, the couple admitted they were working through some issues in their relationship, explaining that "just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids".

Now, Ben has offered his support to the couple, who he became friends with after featuring them on his show New Lives In The Wild.

Posting a photo of himself with the family and their nine children, he called the Owen family "honest, kind and hard working" and said "we all have have our challenges and imperfections".

On Instagram, Ben wrote: "I always stick up for my friends. There is an assumption that if you put yourself in the public eye, then you must also suffer the consequences of accountability.

"Amanda, Clive and the Owen family are the most honest, kind, hard working folk I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They have integrity, Yorkshire grit and good honest, traditional values. But everyone has their limits.

"The constant scrutiny and intrusion has, in my opinion, transcended beyond ‘accountability’ and now borders harassment. Give them a break.

"We all have our wobbles. We all have our challenges and imperfections. In a world of negativity, they’re the good people. Love, peace and families."

Previously, it was reported that Clive, 66, was "desperate" to work on their relationship and keep their marriage intact.

A source told The Sun: “It’s incredibly sad. Amanda and Clive are two hugely popular figures here in the Dales, and no one saw this coming.

“Clive loves Amanda to bits and adores her, and fears the marriage may be failing even though he desperately doesn’t want it to. He fears they will divorce."

The insider went on to claim that Clive believes this will be the last series they film together as the future will be about "looking after the kids and putting them first".

In a joint statement provided to OK!, Clive and Amanda said: “With the TV show and the books we’ve always aimed to show the reality of life on the farm, and just like any marriage we have our stresses and strains, coupled with all the complexities of what we do on the farm and bringing up nine kids.

"We’re a normal family, and we’ve never said our marriage is perfect. Unfortunately the constant intrusion into our lives from the media has amplified a rocky patch that we’re going through. We ask that the media respect our privacy as we work through this.”
